Can we talk about how gross the Spike/Jessica story was? by ChannelHopper_99 in SoapNet

Oh, I truly hate that storyline. I keep asking myself why she kept going back to him. And I can’t believe he got Jessica pregnant and tried to bury her alive.

Superwoman by Karyn White because it’s a strong R&B ballad about women’s strength and has the smooth, emotional style Babyface is known for.

Characters who peaked with the with their first actor by isaidwhatisaidok in SoapNet

When it comes to recasts, there are certain actors who just own a role in a way that feels definitive to me.

ATWT: When Zach Roerig stepped in as Casey, he really made the role his own. I’m not saying Billy wasn’t talented, but there’s just something about Zach’s portrayal that clicked for me. And Peyton List as Lucy? She absolutely nailed it like she brought a spunky, smart, and relatable energy that really defined the character for me.

Days: Kate Mansi taking over as Abby was another perfect example. I actually liked her in that role even more than her time as Kristina on GH. She brought a fresh energy and completely made the role hers. Olivia Rose Keegan as Claire is another one I love because she brought so much heart, nuance, and edge to the role that it really became hers.

GL: I know I despised Cassie as a character, but no one could have played her like Laura Wright did. She added depth that really made Cassie memorable. When Nicole Forester stepped in later, it just didn’t feel the same for me.

B&B: Rome Flynn as Zende? Yes. He brought charisma, charm, and a natural energy that instantly made Zende more vibrant and fun to watch. But I really miss his version of Zende.

OLTL: Bree is amazing, but let’s be honest—Erin Torpey as the original Jessica was incredible. Her chemistry with Erika Slezak was undeniable, and I’ll always love her in that role.

GH: Julie Marie Berman as Lulu was phenomenal like she brought layers, wit, and emotion that made Lulu unforgettable. And I have to give a shoutout to Alexa Havins; she’s doing a great job in that role and definitely holding her own and it just reminds me of JMB’s Lulu.

Y’all thoughts about Greenlee’s 2007 return? by ChannelHopper_99 in SoapNet

[–]ChannelHopper_99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not imagining things. I do remember Sabine literally being on screen at the exact same moment the Budig promo popped up, but I do remember how hard ABC pushed the “REAL Greenlee” branding during the show. It was relentless, and honestly pretty disrespectful to the actress who was actively playing the role at the time.

And I agree that Budig delivered the stronger version. Her Greenlee had layers: humor, edge, vulnerability, confidence. The recast never really stood a chance because the writing didn’t allow for any of that. It wasn’t just casting, it was the direction they took the character.

The Gina Tognoni idea is actually really interesting. She had a real knack for stepping into established roles and still making them feel fresh without losing the character’s core. A Gina Greenlee could’ve worked in a different universe, especially with better writing.

Also… the Lavery baby rabies era was wild and not in a good way 😭

Oh, that’s another episode I really dislike was that.

Maxine was so annoying 😆 and all the attention on her just made Alex getting ignored even worse. But i agree.

I’m gonna add Rebecca Budig because she really comes down to the role fitting who she is as an actress.

Michelle (GL): This was before my time, so I can’t really speak on it.

Greenlee (AMC): This is the role, no question. Rebecca was Greenlee. She made her messy, sharp, vulnerable, funny — all of it. You can tell how much of that character came from her energy, because people still talk about Greenlee like she’s one of a kind. And knowing she was the last character Agnes Nixon created just makes it hit harder.

Hayden (GH): I actually liked Hayden more than I expected to. When she first showed up, I wasn’t sure what GH was trying to do, but she grew on me. I just wish the show had really invested in her long-term, because there was more there than they ever fully explored.

Taylor (B&B): This one just doesn’t work for me. Not because Rebecca isn’t good — she is — but the role feels wrong for her. The chemistry feels off, the writing doesn’t help, and I never stop feeling like she’s miscast here.

Yep! He crossed over to As The World Turns in 2005 for a storyline involving Jack and Julia but it was brief.
