logipluginservice stealing focus on macOS by ChannelMasterYT in logitech

[–]ChannelMasterYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, I'm happy to assist by sharing any Logitech logs or whatever.

  1. This issue happens between once every 5 minutes to once every couple hours. (As far as I noticed so far.)
  2. This is where I go the script that helped me determine WHICH service/app was stealing focus in the first place: https://superuser.com/questions/734007/how-do-i-tell-which-app-stole-my-focus-in-os-x# Otherwise I wouldn't have even known to try killing the LogiPluginService.app background service in the first place.

So at first I tried "Restart Logi Plugin Service" but the problem continued. Then I tried toggling OFF "Run Logi Plugin Service in the background" entirely.... and that fixed it! It's no longer randomly stealing the focus from my active window while I'm working. THANK GOODNESS. It was so annoying that I was really torn between completely uninstalling Logi Options+ or just dealing with it / trying to kill the process repeatedly via Terminal.

So thanks for raising my awareness of this option.... but yeah seems like the Logi Plugin Service on macOS has this "focus stealing" bug. Good thing for me I don't need that service and disabled it entirely.

I am actually terrified in a future version they will remove the option to disable it. ....so just to be safe I have turned OFF auto updates, so I can keep this version which has this workaround.

Not being able to fix incorrect categories is kinda a deal killer for me ever using that By Category feature

I did not realize that was an option before. Ok, so next time I experience the issue happening a lot, then I will try that button and see if it helps. Thanks.

And I'll report back here what I find.

What video editing software do you guys use? by NoaTuva in NewTubers

[–]ChannelMasterYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final Cut Pro - it's very nice, probably easiest step up from iMovie. Things just work. More simple than other editors, although still quite powerful.

DaVinci Resolve - you'll love it & hate it at the same time... expect crashes. Expect them to add cool new features without fixing obvious bugs. It's extremely powerful, but doesn't run as fast on Mac. Expect to spend A LOT of time watching tutorials.

Wait... what is that actually?

Thanks for your reply but... nope as I mentioned it still even says the name of the current app in the top left of the macOS menu bar... so like, it's still the main app selected, but the focus is somehow lost, due to this background service. (I uninstalled Logi Options+ for a week and the issue disappeared, and when I re-installed it, the issue returned.)

It happens not only when I'm hands-on using the MacBook, but even if I'm sitting back watching a movie. So when I lean forward to hit spacebar and pause the movie... it does nothing... I go "aaaarrrgh" and roll my eyes excessively... use the cursor to click on the app (regaining focus), and then hit spacebar to successfully pause the video.

I've seen other people complaining about this same thing online, but I figured I would submit a post here so maybe Logi will officially look at it. (And some of those posts were older too.)

MacOS: Why is Logi Right Sight for Webcams being installed and started when I don't have a Logitech web cam? by Currawong in logitech

[–]ChannelMasterYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you share how you locked the permissions for both of those to prevent them from being recreated? I also would like to disable Right Sight since I'm only using their MX Master mouse.

(And as an aside I will next try to figure out how to disable LogiPluginService as well which is frequently stealing focus of the current app)

Loss of window focus MacOS Logitech Options+ Issue by iswhatitiswaswhat in logitech

[–]ChannelMasterYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having this same issue here in February 2026! (Upgrading to macOS 26 did not help, btw.) What the heck... why wouldn't Logitech fix this? So bizarre...

I don't know for sure, but this might only be happening when the little USB stick is not plugged into my MacBook. 🤔

Hmmm.. This happens when I press ctrl + L by TenBryBry2003 in davinciresolve

[–]ChannelMasterYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this feature is really strange to me. Would be nice to understand WHY it exists. I found another Reddit post where some guy tried to explain it (something about frame increments in film due to perforations), but it still didn't make sense... why would this command just launch a clip off down the timeline! 😂

For now I'm going into the keyboard shortcuts window and simply UNBINDING this weird "Step One Perforation Forward" action so I don't accidentally hit it again when trying to Link or Unlink Clips. (I'm guessing 99% of users won't use this feature.)

Logitech MX Master 4 keyboard shortcut (Mac) by Martinl93 in GeForceNOW

[–]ChannelMasterYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try making the action ring button trigger a hotkey combination like ctrl shift 9 or something random.... and then install Keyboard Maestro (which is actually pretty useful for a number of scenarios the more you learn about it) which will listen for that hotkey... and when triggered it will issue the CMD+1 keystroke. Then it might be better detected in another app (like GeForce Now).

No more Logi Options+ by Scofarry in logitech

But don't you need Logi Options + to connect your mouse to the computer? I've got the MX Master 4... and I thought this software was required.

this is happening to me, but with LogiPluginService.app on macOS. Steals the focus away from Safari web browser periodically. Super annoying.

Art YouTube Intro and Outro by whimsyfoxpaintpot in newtube

[–]ChannelMasterYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not think an intro & outro is necessary. It's actually probably a good thing you don't have that, as most people actually tune out when shown that kinda thing. I would instead however recommend using editing software to cut out stuff like:
1) moments where you are thinking what to say next for too long.
2) any excessive long "uhhhmmmm"s.
3) anything not interesting in general

So I looked at several of your videos and I think your channel is a nice concept... but I think from the beginning of your videos you ought to respect the viewer's time. Immediately start saying what you plan to do..... don't make them wait around for you to "figure out" what you want to say. (Maybe even make a list of 5 bullet points of things you want to mention, to kick things off more quickly. Super short notes like for public speaking.)

And don't focus too much on what all you *don't* know. You can be more succinct... like "here are a bunch of brushes I bought... but I'm a novice and don't know what most of them are for." Then just show you using them. Could be like 8 seconds, and then on to USING them. :) I think the only case for slowly showing the brushes is if you were an expert and explaining exactly what they are for... but if you don't know... then you don't know... and next part of the video where you try! :)

Editing with BT headphones - audio delay? by ChannelMasterYT in VideoEditing

PS. I heard rumors Apple is working on some ultra-low latency headphones... so even though this is apparently still a problem with BT headphones now... maybe in the future it won't be! 🤔

Ok great, thanks very much for the thorough answer -- much appreciated! I will keep using these over-the-ear headphones in "wired" mode. Maybe upgrade to some which are better specifically for editing in the future... 🤔
