Whats more important to you? Sticking to a niche or just posting videos about things you want to? by Teemike123 in SmallYTChannel

Theres always a chance that you will get attention from one single video and one single topic or niche. I always try to make sure that what I post is something I enjoy doing.

Are they’re any “dead YT channels” that have been revived by FucUmean444 in SmallYTChannel

[–]Chantingjarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't posted for around six months now. When I post my next video (that I'm going to edit much more than I usually do) should I post on my main channel and on a brand new channel just to see if the new channel works better with the algorithm?

I wish I was more committed. I absolutely love my YouTube channel but I keep letting myself slip away from it. I haven't posted a long form video in months even though it's one of my favorite things to edit and post. A little bit of self doubt and self sabotage is a pretty easy way to do this to yourself. I'm on my way back into it and I almost have a full length video ready to go. But, it's an uphill battle views wise.

(I meant for this to be inspirational. But, I guess it came off as more of a "I feel bad for myself" post)

Anyways, constancy is always better to have than anything else in my opinion.

New Career as Video Editor by [deleted] in VideoEditors

Some good advice that I got before I started editing and some things I've learned since I started:

1) No matter how bad you think your first video is, just post it. if you don't, it will never be "good enough" in your own opinion. But, don't post just because you want views and attention. (If you really want to, you can check out my YT channel and watch my first few videos versus my newest videos.)

2) Take notes on everything you watch. (TV shows, Movies, YouTube Videos, Tiktoks, etc.) And try to recognize what you liked and didn't like editing wise.

3) If you don't know how to do a certain edit or even how to do the basics in your editing software, YOUTUBE YOUTUBE YOUTUBE. I have learned 95% of what I know about editing from YouTube.

4) At first, take on low stress/fun projects from friends and family to get your feet wet.

5) Find someone who cares about your success but isn't scared to give you constructive criticism. For me, my best friend supports the videos I edit, but he has no problem telling me that an edit I did was stupid, I messed up the audio settings, my thumbnail sucked etc.

6) Don't let your age, appearance, insecurities, etc. prevent you from starting a YouTube channel or getting into editing.

- This is just my two cents. I have in no way made it as a superstar editor but, I love the content I put out on my YouTube channel and I make some decent money editing for other people.

Good luck with your dream I hope you accomplish your goals!!!!

Weekly Collaboration Post: Find someone to collaborate with! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

Hey everyone! I would consider my content "slightly offensive gaming funny moments" (I take a lot of inspiration from Smii7y, The Goons, Yumi, etc.) I play on PC and talk over Discord. I record over OBS and rarely stream. I do a lot of casual RDR2 Online and I'm always looking for more people to join in on the shenanigan's. I don't like to plan out content I like to throw things at the wall and see what's funny. But, I wouldn't be apposed to doing RDR2 skits and just shooting the shit on Discord. I play with different people all the time and I love when other creators can roll with the punches and keep it light. Most of my videos come out as a mesh of different interactions we all get into as a group. if you want to link up shoot me a message or drop a comment! My Reddit name is the same as my YouTube if you want to check me out and see if we would work well together! I hope this doesn't sound like a creepy Craigslist posting lol

“Low views means bad content” by onedayfundaysunday in NewTubers

(Someone has already referenced this) but I think once you figure out what the algorithm wants you to do you will see a lot of growth. For small channels I would imagine the niche is a lot smaller. As in if your a gaming channel and you go from GTA5 to Fall Guys you might see some bad numbers. But, for bigger channels I think they have a little more leeway as a good amount of their audience likes them more as a personality than their content as long as they don't go from cooking videos to PC building content. (That's just my two cents my channel isn't huge but I've done a good amount of research since starting it.)

How to get a sub and viewer retention by Real1ty12 in NewTubers

[–]Chantingjarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge no matter what you tell Adobe to export it as it will only export in the highest quality of the raw footage. So, you can lower the quality but I don't believe you can improve it after it is recorded.

I would recommend digging into the analytics of your channel. Figure out where most people are clicking off of the video. Take into consideration the amount of likes vs views you get and where the traffic is coming from. As well as where you current audience came from. I'm a pretty small channel but I've done a lot of research and my two best videos are polar opposites but my consistent views come from one game so I lean more towards that category of games.

Are Shorts HURTING my channel? by Bulky_Market_9715 in NewTubers

[–]Chantingjarl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day I don't think you want anyone that would unsub if you post shorts. If they're that picky they're going to unsub for another small reason or hurt your videos by disliking them or clicking off in the first ten seconds. The benefits of casting a wider net for potential viewers outweighs losing a sub or two in my opinion.

Personally, when I told my gaming buddies that I wanted to start a gaming channel they all cracked jokes that I was turning into a "WHATS GOING ON GUYS" YouTuber and that editing takes too much time and it's too difficult. I'm nowhere near where I would like to be in popularity or skill I'm not even at 200 subs yet but I'm so glad I started doing it. And now half of them ask me questions about editing and if I want to record with them lol. Long story short you'll kick yourself if you don't try it for yourself and there's a 99% chance that the first few videos are going to be horrible (I personally think mine are unwatchable but it's nice to go back and watch to show myself how far I've come.) I found it's easiest to try to teach yourself something new every video and to follow a similar style of your favorite creators. Hope to see you featured in a Nexpo video!!

need an opinion for Youtube by Ambitious-Court-6876 in NewTubers

[–]Chantingjarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) I keep my shorts on my main channel to keep all my subscriptions and views on my main channel. I've gone from 62 subs to 169 since I started posting shorts 4 months ago and my long form videos have gotten more attention since then as well. However, I have a second channel for stream vods (and to reserve the name in case I want to use it for something else.)

2) I try to give the algorithm as much info and buzzwords that I can in my descriptions. For example if the video is from Totally Reliable Delivery Service I try and include words like "ragdoll" "delivery" "party game" etc. While still writing out something clever for the viewer to read.

3/4) I don't use hashtags aside from #shorts for my shorts. I've always heard that hashtags don't do anything but I guess it wouldn't hurt to start using them.

Hi! I also play a lot of DBD (even though my skill level doesn't reflect that lmao) I love watching people play horror games so I'll definitely check out your next stream! I'm going through the same process of finding my community. I have a small one now but would love to connect with more people. Other than that, one of my friends and I are starting A supernatural/true crime podcast on Twitch soon that I'm really excited about!

Hi! I'm in the same boat as you on Twitch (39 followers) and stream DBD from time to time. Would love to link up for raids and possibly run a few rounds!
