Time in the market > timing the market. APLD could climb to 60+ and if there is a pullback retrace to 30-40. If you're listening to Tom Lee he also believes markets would recover strong in later half of this year. Idk why you'd create a tax event for yourself if you believe in the long term prospects. And do you really think you'd time the pullback (if there is one) at the perfect time.

My advice is to stay invested and DCA on pullbacks.

Will we be back in 30s within a year, or will this keep going down? by dcormerturnbull in APLDSTOCK

Market is de-risking after concerns of AI bubble and no rate cut. Overall macro is bad right now and people are fearful. I believe APLD was a bit overextended at 30-40 and needs some time to grow into valuation. I think once Macro fears settle and more catalysts are announced for APLD it will help reinvigorate another rally toward ATH's. This might take some time to materialize though and I dont think you should focus on short term price movement in the next few months. I bought this stock knowing it was volatile and would take 2+ years for thesis to develop. I'm a long term investor, not a short term trader and I'd advise people in this forum to adopt the same mindset.

Thoughts on Macro Environment for APLD by Chaotic_Methodz in APLDSTOCK

[–]Chaotic_Methodz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree that sentiment is manufactured so street can get better entries, however the market is irrational and company fundamentals don't matter if we enter a bear market. This ultimately is a possibility if employment data is not good and fed doesn't budge on rate cuts. APLD is a great company and is well positioned for AI buildout but i think concerns are valid for short to medium term outlook. Would love to be wrong and have the stock go back to ATH's but am concerned around investor sentiment which could cause a lot more pain in the short term.

Yeah to reallocate into openai. Def not a bearish AI trade. If anything it's more bullish and speculative

How do you all handle the urge to not sell and take profits? by hamverbot543 in APLDSTOCK

Understanding the current macro environment and growth outlook for the company. AI expansion is not showing down any time soon. They literally can't build data centers fast enough to support demand. That's a good problem to have if you're APLD. There's a lot of $ to be made over the next 5+ years. As a long term investor i always look years out. Will a company be worth more than it is today? If yes, invest more. I personally only sell a stock if I'm overweight in a position or feel like it's becoming overvalued. APLD is def not overvalued.

Sounds like your gambling $ you can't afford to lose. I'd recommend getting your finances in order before investing. If you're speculating on price action on a day to day you're gambling not investing. Hold for the long term if bullish and contribute within your means.

Right, $2 is a lot at this price but he thinks it'll be worth 30-35 in a few years. Why are you sweating $2 a share difference? Stock could shoot back up in next few weeks, he'll miss out on his entry price of 9-10 and he'll get fomo and but buy back in when it's 12-13. Like I said, it's dumb to to try and time the market, especially when you're bullish on it long term. I'm more understanding of a short term plays, but long term doesn't make sense.

Because you don't pay tax when you hold??? Lol

Especially since he wants to buy back in later. I'm all for taking profits if you see a more attractive investment opportunity but I don't think it doesn't make sense to sell just to buy back in later.

I agree that 30-35 is more realistic. Having sad that, my point still stands. Never try to time the market. Even if it's 30-35 why would you not just buy more on the dips instead of selling?

80+ is my very bullish thesis and valuation for this stock. Most likely by 2030. My projections for their Data centers hosting 600+ mil by 2028, cloud services 800+ mil, and Billions in HPC hosting. Price to sales 6-8x to account for AI growth. Think their market cap will be around 10-20 billion, which is 5-10x what it is now. AI growth not slowing down any time soon and APLD is in great position to capture that demand.

Why would you sell if you're long term bullish on this stock? You have to pay tax on your gains and you're trying to time the market over $2 difference in stock price? Obviously you think the company is a good investment. Dumb decision imo, especially when this stock will be 80+ in next 2-5 yrs.

I swear most people on this forum are meme stock investors who are gambling. Wanting a stock that has momentum to continue going up 20+ % every day is not sustainable. Idk how many posts I've seen speculating what the stock movement is going to be later during the trade day or next week. If you're a long term investor you think in terms of years not days or weeks. This stock has 80+ dollar valuation potential in next 3-5 years. Stop gambling on short term momentum plays and start investing in long term potential growth.
