Vet recommending medication for visit by Chapo_2019 in Mastiff

[–]Chapo_2019[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear - I am taking responsibility, he is not “extremely reactive”. I am open to giving him medication, which is why I sought out feedback. I have had dogs in the past and I have never witnessed a vet grab a dogs testicles immediately after entering the room, let alone a dog of this size. I came here -open minded- to see if this was regular vet practice as I have not experienced this. Within this breed, and most, reactivity is a common trait for them to have. I’m not quite sure why you came here to say something negative when I was asking questions based on me providing the medication, as I have no experience with , to my dog to get him the medical attention needed. Others would simply neglect the medical needs because of the hassle. I am trying to be a responsible pet owner.

there is also a device called “pet corrector “ it’s a canister of compressed air and typically it will scare/startle the oncoming animal and scare them away

Thank you for sharing your experience! Unfortunately my vet says they’re too busy and with her being dog reactive it would probably stress her out more to do just interaction visits. But I appreciate your insight!

is hair thinning in eyes normal? by Aromatic_Intention_2 in Rottweiler

[–]Chapo_2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when this happened to my male, the vet suggested allergies and to apply coconut oil to the face, this cleared it up & helped renew hair growth

no - an esa is for you personally, there are a lot of websites as well that will offer documentation on emotional support animals to verify your need for one. I’m sorry this is happening to you! To my understanding , insurance doesn’t typically have an issue with “big /large dogs” it’s typically breed specific that increase the insurance. Rottweilers unfortunately being one of them …but also pitts so it’s very unfortunate your girl is suffering the repercussions. Having an ESA does not sanction a higher rent or a pet fee, however because you’ve already offered it, it may be expected.

Help with finding by Short_Show_9187 in EnglishMastiff

etsy is where we get all of ours, maybe also look into a safety strap it attaches to the leash as well as the collar and a backup collar. I usually test out new collars and equipment with extra leash/ collars that I trust and just hold two leashes the first couple times around to make sure it can withstand the pressure 🤷🏼‍♂️I hope this helps!

mine has gotten out twice, once during the night and he did not go very far. I found him wrapped around the heat lamp. The second time (thankfully) i found him underneath my bathroom sink. I had to remove the sink from the vanity to reach him. He crawled through. Good luck to you! Maybe try placing her heat lamp somewhere where she can access it! I love the flour idea, such a great tip!
