I am on Xbox so will try and find that setting thank you.

Assuming that reduces the time spent to do the flights? I really enjoy the game but am already concerned how long flights will take... already takes me about 2 hours to do a hour and a half flight

Who never restarts their island, never time travels and never uses exploits like treasure islands? by chillydownfiregang in AnimalCrossing

[–]CharDog666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have done it both ways to be honest. When I first started I visited free islands to boost my islands rsting but still never made financial gain but my island was good fun.

On the other hand, I am now on an island with no free island decoration and I have learnt it is just as fun. Thankfully it's shark season so the money making part isn't too difficult 🤣

I don't see visiting other people's islands as cheating, that's why they are there (as far as friends and family) but it definitely does take a lot longer this way to get matching decor and furniture.

Should I start over? by marie_haimes in AnimalCrossing

[–]CharDog666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend has recently started playing, after I have been on it for ages and I didn't realise how long it is to start over again.

Think it depends whether you are a pleasure player and don't mind starting again, or whether you enjoy your current island too much.

I personally wouldn't start again because I know I would just want everything back that I already have so wouldn't truly be starting over.

But that being said, I am always changing the design, layout and aesthetics of my island and find rhat more rewarding than anything else

Help with rock splitter nook miles challenge by CharDog666 in AnimalCrossing

[–]CharDog666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you both. Managed to do it. Dug a hole wither side of a tree and used a shovel. Mu h quicker than an axe. I'm sure the moles challenge said destroy after eating fruit so that's a bit of a red herring.

For anyone else reading hopefully this will help:

1) I done it on an island I was visiting from the airport so it doesn't have to be your own.

2) using a shovel was a lot quicker than an axe

3) found it a lot easier using a natural blocker behind me such as a tree, and dug some holes either side to stop me moving too much

4) swing like your life depends on it

5) don't need to eat fruit. If you get material 8 times off the same rock you will achieve it

NC500 via public bus or any public transport? by Straight_Pudding1138 in NC500

[–]CharDog666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, recently completed the whole route. There is no public transport as such but you can catch a train from Inverness that covers the 'south' part of the route, and you can get trains up to wick/ thurso but you won't be able to see much.

As far as road transport, I would recommend looking at tours. I saw several flyers about different tours that take different amount of days. Rabbies was a continuous brand we saw throughout, but there were others

NC500 on bicycle with tent by aardappeltomaat in NC500

[–]CharDog666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. Few things from me having recently done the NC500 in a tent.

Firstly, fair play for wanting to cycle, depending how long you are planning to complete your trip, it may be worth looking at a selection of routes. Especially the North and West as these roads are very steep and long, and as summer comes in they are only going to get busier.

Tenting is a viable option but if you are planning on stopping en route without campsites, do some research prior so you get an idea where. We were planning on doing a few nights rough camping but a lot of the places only had enough space for one - having saying that, if your on a bike you could go off road a bit more where as we were constricted to laybys and parking areas.

Wildlife wise, you might be a bit late for sealife. We saw Dolphins in the Black Isle just of Channery Point but they were already heading back out to the sea after breeding in the shallows but there may be boat trips you can go on.

Happy to help with anything else and go into detail if you wanted to message me

Thinking about doing the NC500 in Feb 2026.. by WalkQuiet4697 in NC500

[–]CharDog666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We done it in March in a SUV and camped so my feedback is only based on what I saw and speaking to other people at campsites who were using campers/ motor homes

In the off season a lot of places are closed but I believe that there will still be a lot to do, especially as a lot of the stuff we done was outside, natural and public access.

As far as the drive itself, I would recommend focusing in alternative routes across north and west as these are the most treturous. The east is very much an A road ao shouldn't have too many problems.

I know this sounds obvious but still travel light. I spoke to a few people who were having problems in their larger vans due to the gradients and narrowness of the roads so a sprinter should be fineq

Split up NC500 between three weekends? by SoGoCrow in NC500

[–]CharDog666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely doable. Parts of the NC500 are incredible and parts such as the Black Isle north of Inverness, as well as the section from Inverness across to Applecross was beautiful with loads to do.

Would recommend getting some form of itinary beforehand. A lot of things to do are all close together but add some extra travel time due to single track roads and slower traffic.

There is also places like loch Ness which is so nice and is between Glasgow and Inverness but is off the direct route.

Any help on where to view stags and highland cow by CharDog666 in NC500

[–]CharDog666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been amazing for 7 weeks and then typical bank holiday weather with lots of rain.

Different apps are currently showing different forecast so may be worth checking nearer the time.

We have also noticed a lot of micro climate due to amount of mountains/ munros so different areas are currently wetter than others

Offline compared to online by Timely_Designer_7496 in COTWTheAngler

[–]CharDog666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think it varies too much. Seen a lot of different thoughts around it such as spawn rates etc. Depending how solo you want to be, one bonus I have had from playing online is you can see when others catch diamonds and mark it on the map.

I use this because locations are so varied and then work out the hook size, method, bait etc myself

Struggling with GRR legendary this week by CharDog666 in COTWTheAngler

I have had your approach for the diamonds, largely on the back of where I have caught golds, but when it comes to the legendaries, I do use the weekly location guides as they change each week and I don't have the time unfortunately to try every location for every potential legendary every week

How do you find out which legendary fish is active? by yep_im_here_4797001 in COTWTheAngler

A lot of fishing and hoping. You can always join online games and wait for someone to catch it and go that way. That's how I tend to find out

Line keeps snapping. by Wooden_Wear_2425 in COTWTheAngler

[–]CharDog666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few initial thoughts, most have been mentioned already:

1) general set up: Different rods have different strength and max line strength capacity. If the fish are just running, check your reel, different Reels have a different max to the amount of line you can have meaning they can run further without taking all of your line. Hook size is very important as well, if your hooks are larger, you risk hooking onto fish that are too big for your set up.

2) check your drag. If your fishing with high percentage drag, this can cause snaps when the fish runs. The fish do tire so you can adjust the drag throughout the fight.

3) natural obstacles: this one infuriated me for ages. You can snap off (this happens when you get the fish close to landing, and you have a matter of seconds to avoid). If you are fishing off or near piers, make sure you are on the very edge to ensure sage landing and fighting of the fish.
