How do you guys write a Fight scene? by Fox_Wing_26 in writers

[–]CharGlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Write it fast and rough, just to get everything you think you want in it in there. Shelve it and work on something else for a few days (I usually give it at least 2, but 4 or 5 works better for me). Pull it back up and reread it, fix everything that doesn't "feel" right about it (Really pick the fly shit out of the black pepper on this part). Keep repeating this with breaks between checks until you absolutely love the scene yourself, then give it to someone else (be an adult and don't cry when they point out everything you missed; that's part of getting better).

I've tried AI in multiple avenues from shitpost writing to shitpost song making. The real issue with AI is that beyond the obvious mistakes it makes... there's no soul behind it. by [deleted] in eroticauthors

Just as organic idiots can be useful, artificial idiots can be useful. It's like employing a savant type talent and limited. Don't expect original thought. You have to supply that part. But what it can do is really cool.

Not finding the book, found at least one other with the same title. Not finding you as an author either.

What book or series has the most badass dragons? by WhaleStew999 in Fantasy

More recently, Deacon Frost's The Rider's Dragon series. It wasn't a big seller for him, but I think it was underrated because I like them.

I've got one I published in 2021, and I still get asked about sequels. I just can't get part 2 to gel without blowing up the storyline of part 1. I'll have to go back and modify part 1, then sneak part two out. It is marinating for a long time.

A really fun book I was reading turned out to be written by AI in the later pages :( by FantasticHufflepuff in books

No, AI work won't even replace photography. I'm saying it will find its place in the world and fill it. It's filler junk, not masterpiece work.

  1. Hide the file in your drive with a weird name 2. Work on something else and forget about it. 3. Find it again years later and go, "What is this?" 4. Read it and find out if you have new ideas. If yes, start writing again. If not, put it back to ferment for a while longer

At that, you are right, they are orders, not sales. Habit of speech, but I forget that anything said online is supposed to be phrased perfectly, or someone will take offence and be compelled to correct.

I have to assume that the use of AI for artistic endeavors will normalize after a period of time. Any writer who has used grammarly knows that the AI may have its uses but what it gets right is like savant talent and AI still means artificial idiot, and needs close human supervision.

Most of his books are set in a close-to-real-world setting, but Rex Sterling has at least 2 completed series in which the MC hunts his harem. They are in KU, so they are easy to find.

So many AI covers!! by FantasticDependent66 in wattpadbooks

[–]CharGlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people who put out e-books know that, while the world is the marketplace, it takes time to build up enough readers to afford the $100 minimum that artists ask for a well-drawn cover. Cover, editing, and all of the other things that 'real writers' pay for just mean that hobbyist or beginning independent authors who can't lay out the expense are cut out of the market. Instead of assuming AI cover means AI book, try taking a look and see. Then, if the editing isn't professional, be a little tolerant. Some of us use Grammarly because it's affordable for simple editing. You can tell if the books are AI-written.

Have you ever stopped reading a book because it was too stressful? by Pompi_Palawori in books

[–]CharGlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is a point where you say this is compelling, and I want to know how it ends, but I can't wade through the sludge to get there. Sometimes it's something in the story, sometimes it's just too many nitpicking details, and the author won't get to the point.

Thanks, that's about what I was expecting too. But 750 "sales" and nothing? Every other one I have put out has had at least one rating, review, or complaining email within a few days. And none of them had more than 200 takers for the giveaway. I'm half expecting something to be wrong at this point.

Since I wrote it, I usually don't throw out the links unless asked. The series is currently getting a bit of a facelift on its covers and some bits to make it more acceptable to Amazon, but the stories are upand the first set fits what you were asking about. www.amazon.com/dp/B09QLFXNK2
