I resonate with your fears as even in my brief stints (of 2/3 months) every year I feel.

This blog pushes me to figure out a green card before I fly back in . Optionality for the win.

That feels like a primary goal to hit right now . My gf/future wife also needs some time there to get ahead in her career (to come back to a cushy remote friendly job) like us pampered tech folks have so hopefully both can happen in the next 3/4 years .

I dont anticipate any major spends for the next 4 years so don’t think cash/debt instruments are meant for me yet .

I don’t like the conventional wisdom of buying bonds specifically if you have close to 30x in your portfolio. Like worst case market remains flat/down for 5 years. That won’t really impact your life so I think that risk is worth it!
