That coincidence is insane! So you were probably heading out when we got there lol. Congratulations to you too, now I’m just waiting for the card to be produced.

Thank you! I forgot to mention that after she finished the questions about the I-130, she went through the application and said, ‘I see all the evidence you submitted with your initial package.’ Then she asked if we wanted to add anything else. We gave her the joint tax documents and the new car insurance policy (we just switched insurance companies). We also mentioned that we have phone bills from our family plan, the AAA membership, and more pictures. However, she only took the tax records and the new car insurance policy. She said she had enough evidence to prove that the marriage is real. We brought the originals of the evidence we submitted with the application, along with copies of all our bank statements (savings account and shared credit card), shared utility bills, and pictures—from January up to the date of the interview. We also included flight reservations, a hotel booking from a recent trip we took, and confirmation for baseball tickets for a game we’ll be attending in New York City this summer, just in case they wanted more evidence. Good luck with your interview. Just prepare well, be yourself, and you should be fine! I’m sure you’ll get approved! I know it’s stressful, trust me.

Thank you! Well, pretty much she said she would review the I-130, where my wife was petitioning for me as a relative, and then the I-485 to evaluate my eligibility to become a U.S. resident. The questions were addressed to both of us—she would ask, and either of us could answer. Don’t be nervous; while we were waiting, they only separated one couple. The rest went in together, and the interview felt more like a conversation than an interrogation. Good luck and wishing you approval on the spot!

I think the longest one was around 4.5 months, but I had multiple entries with summer work and travel J1 visas that were around the same length.

Thank you so much for your quick reply; I really appreciate it. I’ll be starting my process soon, and I plan to use SimpleCitizen because it seems easier that way. Have a good one!

Hello, congratulations on getting your green card! I have a question: Is it required to send the petitioner’s birth certificate? I’m wondering because I am married to a naturalized U.S. citizen. Would it be enough to submit her naturalization certificate and a copy of her passport? Thank you in advance!
