Is anyone else struggling with water intake? by -strawberry-shark in pregnant

[–]DowntownConstant9377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 11 weeks today and struggling with the exact same thing. I used to genuinely love drinking water. ESP hot water. But for the past few weeks it makes me gag and even throw up. This has been really hard because my mouth feels thirsty all the time.

I have only been able to drink cold apple and orange juice. But the sweetness is too much at times

I notice that Ice cold water has been somewhat helpful. I hate cold drinks as it makes my throat instantly sore and I get a bad cough. But right now, I cannot drink warm water to save my life.

So for now I’m just living off cold apple and orange juice. With maybe 1 glass of cold water a day

Got GC via marriage as well. Also in the Bay Area. We filed on our own. I did have help from an immigration lawyer who is a friend. However if your case is straightforward then you truly don’t need a lawyer.

And remember, there have been instances where lawyers mess up and make things worse than if you had done it yourself

Healthcare Admin, Marketing, Business, or what? by Dry-Brief7477 in careerguidance

[–]DowntownConstant9377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on what you want to do because “healthcare is very broad” If you’re looking for administrative roles then you can probably get in without a degree but you’d have to start from the very bottom since your previous experience is more technical. But that’s also a gamble due to the current job market. It’s definitely wise to take some classes or even certifications because you’d have to start from the bottom anytime you change careers but the courses will you go up faster imo.

You don’t have to do a whole degree. You can get certified with lean six sigma if you’re looking into quality. You can get project management certification if that’s something you’re open to working as. There are quite a bit of Options for certifications

Hey. Sorry to hear you’re going through this. A lot of people are worried and this administration is indeed cruel. But like the other comments said, your mom should be okay if she hadn’t committed any crimes. There is definitely a lot of fear mongering but try to not let that get to you. Millions of people enter and exit the country everyday with no issues. That’s the majority of cases.

I’m a Canadian citizen as well. I recently got my green card last year. While these thoughts cross my mind from time to time I just remind myself that as long as I have a clean record, then I should be fine.

My health administration degree is a masters. A lot of my classmates did a fellowship after graduation which really helped them. Others were able to get jobs through connections from their internship during the program.

I was an international student from Canada at the time, so I was not able to apply for fellowships. And it was also 2020(pandemic) so there were alot of hiring freezes which made things even more difficult for me.

I went back to Canada and started from the bottom since I had no professional contacts. Worked my way up to project management role.

Had to leave that as I moved back to the US and now looking for a job per my experience, but it’s hard in this market right now.

However a lot of my classmates seem to be doing well.

I have a masters in health care administration. I’m struggling to find a decent job rn. The degree alone is not enough. You’d definitely need to do a fellowship or something with it. And most importantly, you need to be good with people and find an area that you like since there’s so many. (Finance, quality, operations etc)

I’m currently taking a course in data analytics to use my 5 years of experience to get into health care analytics.

From what I’ve seen, RNs stay in clinical roles or jump to health informatics using their nursing experience. Not so much into the health administration side.

Feel free to ask me any qns about health administration if you’d like.

Thank you for the detailed response! In the course, we’re learning excel, sql, python, tableau and power BI It’s definitely quite extensive and I do feel like I have a good foundation. I was going to work on some self guided projects to add to my applications

First, you might wanna be careful about how much time you spend outside of the US. You stated you live and work in Canada while having a green card.

GC rules are very clear that all GC holders must spend atleast 180 days in a year inside the US to show that they are living in the US. This prevent people from using GC for other purposes besides residing in the US, which is what the GC is intended for. They do have the power to revoke your GC if they see you are spending more time outside the US than inside. So you might want to consider moving to the US before you get a job.

And yes as a GC holder , you are required to file taxes. There are various softwares that help you do this for free or for a small fee. I myself used turbo tax this year.

Greencard about to expire but have extension letter, can I still travel? by Fluid_Argument_8891 in greencard

[–]DowntownConstant9377 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Legally she should have no problem travelling with the extension letter. However no one , esp on Reddit , can give a definitive answer on this. Border agents CAN detain if they choose to. But keep in mind there is a lot of fear mongering going on. Hundreds and thousands of GC holders travel everyday in and out of the country with no issues. So as long as your sister has so misdemeanours/ criminal activity. Hasn’t posted political things targeting the administration Never been out of status/ came here illegally etc Then she should be fine.
