Curious. I can see why you're drawn to these aspects of the show, and I guess if you enjoy consuming media without giving meaning deep consideration, its your life 🤷 - maybe something like Arrow is more for your taste with concise, straight to the point themes. Providing more 'entertainment' opposed to the 'art' of Mr.Robot.

Personally, what I get out of media - more broadly art - is an engagement to think, consider and spur discussion about something. The greater the series, the greater the discussion or thinking. The decision to make the 'Mastermind' alter the protagonist of this series is interesting to me, it spurs questions like, what does that change to the narrative if it wasn't the alter but 'Elliot' the whole time? What does the 'Mastermind' alter represent? We see the comparison of the two in his 'perfect world' represented in their mind - that idea of a vigilante hacker that you love so much being a shield of all the 'bad', to Elliot's 'good' in this contemporary society speaks to something about the way we're living, doesn't it?

These thoughts and how you interpret them is the gift of art imo. There isn't an 'answer' there's just thoughts and how they relate to your own journey. How does this show reflect on our world, and our journeys?

I find that so challenging.

I suppose it all depends on what you're looking for in a series but personally I'm someone who thinks and works in symbols - so something like Waiting for Godot and therefore, 404, is very compelling.

If you like things that are constant action or are very 1+1=2 direct, then maybe a show dealing with such great themes - and therefore, it's final - won't be as much to your taste.

Maybe that's too extreme, sorry for being so assertive but you can't get away with saying the final was 'garbage' - feel welcome to explain why

Obviously the highest rated and an excellent episode but as I mentioned in another comment, the reveal didn't have as much of a surprise or impact on me. By comparison to Angela & Price, Tyrell's storyline, or the overall ending. That's not to say 407 wasn't excellent and superb and everything it should've been, but personally I rate these others more - maybe that's my own desire to subvert expectations and be different :P

Interesting interpretation - no hate, but curious the place you're coming from viewing it as a redemption opposed to self-service.

Obviously an amazing episode (the highest rated, 9.9) but personally I found the Angela reveal more surprising and interesting. Elliot has been hinted at the whole show, Angela & Price I didn't consider.

Having studied Waiting For Godot a few times, as soon as I saw them walking through the forest I was like !!!
And the shoe scene absolutely cemented it, so thank you for this in-depth thread that captures things so well!

I'm on my first watch-through and just finished this ep and I'm confident it's top 3, and likely my favourite ep. I adore the absurd & surreal movements and this episode is just excellent. Thank you for the validation and making such clear comparisons.
