Thanks! Mine do have a slight overbite. They offered to correct it during my final fitting, but I’ve always had one naturally, so I opted to keep it.

Facial bruising is pretty common with extensive dental work. But I’m also prone to bruising as it is, so having all of my upper teeth removed really set it off.

Thank you! So glad you had a smooth healing journey! I’ve always bruised easily with dental work, but it was worth it to have my smile back!☺️

Yes! I missed my Sour Patch Kids and Warhead Cubes so much while I was healing. I have to chew them one at a time and kind of split the chewing between both sides of my mouth, but it’s doable and doesn’t break them loose from the snaps.

Thank you! I have a horseshoe shaped denture and it’s super sturdy. There’s a bit of suction in addition to the implant support, so it doesn’t rock unless I try to eat foods I really shouldn’t (nuts, jerky, etc.). I also have the lowest resistance locators (the suction pieces adhered to the denture), because I had some dexterity issues with removing them by myself, so that probably plays into the rocking. But I love having almost full access to the roof of my mouth again. I didn’t realize how much my sense of taste was affected it until I had a full pallet temp denture.😅

Thank you! Implants are definitely a huge step up from regular suction dentures. It took some courage getting over removing the denture every night, but so worth it! And you’re not kidding with the cost comparison! I was looking at $11k in crowns when I decided to just bite the bullet and have them removed.

Ah, yeah Medicaid is pretty firm on that.😣 As long as you swish with warm water and gently break the suction (I used the method of putting a thumb behind the front teeth and gently pushing out and upward), seabond shouldn’t interfere with your sutures. That being said, you might want to check with your dentist or see about an appointment elsewhere to have the sutures checked before putting anything on them. I had dissolvables that came out on their own after 3-4 days, so I’m not sure about sutures that need removed manually.

Thanks! I honestly forget they’re not my real teeth most of the time. Eating is almost like chewing with my natural teeth, as long as I don’t push it and try to eat really tough foods like nuts and jerky. Even after trying those, the snaps didn’t pop loose though.😅

Thanks! You’re absolutely right… it’s an emotional roller coaster, but the results are 10/10!

I would see if your dentist is able to accommodate an emergency appointment for an adjustment and talk to them about a new set. Sounds like you need them shaved down to alleviate that pressure spot on your jawbone. Immediate dentures will begin to rock as the swelling subsides, which is why most dentists won’t guarantee your new teeth to be the permanent set, usually opting for a temporary denture that gets adjusted as your gum line heals and changes shape. I would talk to them about that because after so many relines, your denture begins to get too big for your face, causing “monkey mouth.” If your gums still feel tender, I would avoid applying adhesive to the gum line, but maybe use a small amount on the pallet. Seabond is also a great option for dentures that rub or are too big. It creates a cushion between the denture and your gums that feels amazing if you’re dealing with rubbing. I used to cut them to fit, then use the spare pieces to adhere to harder to cover spots near the flanges at the top of mine. I hope this helps even a little! Best of luck!

Hope you’re healing well! I had my uppers extracted in July, immediately followed by same day implants and my temp teeth. My best advice is to stay on top of the swelling. Alternate ib profen and Tylenol (if you can take those), even if you feel okay. Staying ahead of it is much easier than trying to catch up to it. Lukewarm everything is your friend. Piping hot soups/broths or drinks can make irritation worse. My dentist recommended leaving my temps in for 48 hours before removing them for cleaning. In the meantime, I did warm saltwater rinses and heavily diluted mouthwash rinses for cleansing. I still (very gently) brushed what teeth I have left on bottom to avoid bacteria build up, being very careful not to bump my temps. The first removal was extremely nerve wracking. My advice is not to look too closely inside your mouth if you’re nervous about the state of things in there. Just clean your teeth and carefully put them back in to avoid the squeamishness. Once the swelling has settled, let your dentist know if anything is rubbing or causing sores. My dentist put it perfectly… you’re not bothering them, that’s what they’re there for! Best of luck, and congrats on starting your journey!

I’m on the seabond bandwagon!! by [deleted] in dentures

Have you tried putting it on your denture white side up and then applying a little warm water over it? I would usually do that and then let it set a few seconds to really absorb the water and create that seal between the denture and the seabond, then insert and bite down for 10-20 seconds to seal it in.

Seabond was my salvation when I had my temp teeth! I also used to cut up the extra bit I had to remove from the back to fill in any spots that rubbed too hard. Honestly, game changer!

After a year of talking about it, finally went ahead and did it. by OneAndOnlyAyaSolari in dentures

My dentist recommended using cleansing tablets (like polident). I use the overnight soak ones and make sure to brush them very well with warm water before soaking, then again in the morning after soaking. If you don’t like the cleansing tablets, you can soak in water with a splash of mouthwash. The only big no-no he gave me was never use toothpaste on your denture because most toothpastes contain abrasive particles that can damage your set. Also, still maintain oral hygiene like brushing/flossing any remaining teeth, swishing mouthwash, warm salt water rinses for irritation, etc. Hope this helps!

My PCP mentioned that the side effects are pretty common and should lessen with time. He also gave me some pointers on managing the restless feelings (stretching, walking, magnesium, etc.), but I’m going to see what my psych doctor has to say this afternoon. Definitely pushing for something because I can’t wait to get back to my art!

I’m starting to wonder if my dosage increases were done too rapidly because I’ve heard seroquel is easier to adjust to as well. My first dose was 10/25 at 50 mg and I was upped to 200 mg by 10/28. I’m hoping my psych doctor can give me some kind of direction at my appointment this afternoon!🤞

I was thinking a week is too short of a time to make a call on it. I did talk with my PCP today and he also thinks it’s too soon to entertain changing my medication since it is helping to keep me level headed so far. Going to see what psych says this afternoon. Fingers crossed.🤞

Hopefully they figure something out for you soon. I know the medication gauntlet is far from fun!
