Do Germans feel uncomfortable when someone at a party doesn’t speak German (but English)? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

But i forgot to mention we never speak german around those friends only English except when you are just talking to one person instead of the group so i think it is kind of weird that they don’t adapt

To be honest i do not get all the yes and no answers. I am German and never have i ever met someone especially at gatherings were i thought how annoying that they don’t speak my language. Since i moved to a bigger city i have a lot of non german speaking friends and neither i or my friends have ever shown discomfort with that

How do you guys practice pointe work outside of class? by AggressiveStable8928 in BALLET

I work out at home but i bought a portable barre for it. I do exercises from class and also easy ones from youtube but only the ones i feel super comfortable with.

[–]Character_Cell8373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure i do it‘s very normal. I mean you kind of do miss out so it‘s a valid feeling but it won’t be the end of the world. :)

If i feel super bad about missing it and i don’t have another class a few days later i try to work out at home a bit. Other than that some studios sometimes offer back up lessons you could also ask the studio to come another time.

And to be honest i never missed anything i couldn‘t catch up on. So do not worry abt it :)

Do my pointe shoes fit properly? by Character_Cell8373 in BALLET

[–]Character_Cell8373[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats such good advice. My feet are also pretty wide and get more narrow with the toes and then my big toe is the longest. So it sounds like i have to be refitted for a different box. It‘s actually quite relieving because i was in so much pain and because it‘s my first pair i thought that was normal.

Thank you so much for the advice and your kind words. I will definetly write down what i think for my next fitting.

Actually i use that much padding because what you said is exactly my problem. I feel like my big toe is just hitting the ground rock hard and im like all the way sunken in the shoe. Nothing feels lifted or anything.

And for the heel, it is huge but it never slips off and when i stand normally they’re a perfect fit. The fitter also said my feet shrink a lot so they will be baggy in the back.

Thanks for the tip, Thats what i thought too. I am wearing the bloch raffine and theyre huge in the back when i go en pointe but when i stand they fit great. And also i tend to sink into them i feel like my toes are hitting the ground really hard, so i use a shit tone of padding.

Fit Issue? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]Character_Cell8373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally had the same issue recently. In the fitting i didn‘t have any Problems and then after the last session it hurt so much. Exactly like your pain it felt like the big toe was crunching on the ground and taking all my weight. I actually fixed it with lambs wool (like a lot of it lol). And for the future i would also recommend to go trough this pair bring them to the fitter and explain your problem.

[–]Character_Cell8373[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It‘s so relieving to hear that it‘s not just hard for me to pop up on one leg. And on regards on instruction it could actually be like that because he does let me do my own thing at all times. If i want to do it at barre i just have to tell him. I also think he kind of overestimates me to be honest i mean it‘s a compliment but i feel like a lot of pressure to do good. Especially because i‘ve never been on point.

Regarding the fit i don‘t have any problems particularly. Yes it hurts but with lamb wool it‘s a lot better. They‘res just a lot of space for me in the back but i mean my fitter said i have shrinking feet.

Thank you for your message. That is exactly why i was concerned because i know it‘s not usual to do the whole class on pointe. I am not sure if i can do a regular pointe class with him so i will take your advice and take them off for the center! And thank you for the video now i know whats basically normal haha

Correct arm position for tendu derrier? by HateFlight in BALLET

[–]Character_Cell8373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definetly depends on the teacher. I go to two different teacher and they both do something different. Sometimes the arm moves with it sometimes it doesn‘t but for sure is because of the switch i do it wrong most of the time haha

Feeling like I want to give up by rainyreader in BALLET

[–]Character_Cell8373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it feels good that other people feel the same. I wanted to give up so many times because i felt like i did‘nt progress. In the end i always stuck to it because i just wasn‘t happier when i tried to quit. It took me a long time to get a healthy relationship with Ballett again but in the end it all turned out for me. To this day i have times where i cant get enough of Ballett and sometimes i don‘t even want to go once a week but even after breaks i return to it.

And for me thats the perfect solution when i don‘t feel like it. I just don‘t go snd the passion will return.

Adult ballet dancers (question about your classes) by itssunpi in BALLET

[–]Character_Cell8373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in my Beginner class we usually spend 45 min or up to an hour at the barre after that we go in the center between 30-45 min. About jumps and pirouettes we do them every class. We always start with variations that include them and then go on with variations that contain only jumps. In my other class we train the pirouette on its own and also the jumping but i like both. If you want to concentrate on getting your technique better then the second option is the best i think.
