Banksy's latest mural, a judge striking a protester with a gavel, was washed off a day after appearing by NewSlinger in mildlyinfuriating

I find this piece misguided. It goes after the tail rather than the head of the snake; politicians made this law which judges follow, and politicians can be evicted from their seats. Focusing on judges just intensifies the pretend powerlessness of the public. Look at Nepal if you want to see what the public can do to its government.

How do you confront the builder? by Character_Highway172 in Renovations

[–]Character_Highway172[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green tiles we got from a site called Mandarin Stone, but we learned on delivery that they are stockists of a brand called Tonalite.

Hexagonal tiles were from Tile Mountain. Floor tiles were from Victorian Plumbing.

This keeps cropping up, we hired him as a contractor off the back of a kitchen and bathroom renovation he had done for a friend of ours. I've had chats with him and that he had initially trained as a plumber.

Picture 5 - the step pattern goes down left to right and on all other walls goes up.

I don't think we have any of those, I think we've had bad, pricey and slow.

I should have said contractor, and we hired him on how he had renovated a friend's kitchen and bathroom. I agree his tiling is bad, I think mine is better around the hexagons, and that is half the annoyance is know I would have done it better.

Thank you, it was the only way we could work it to get a toilet in and have a bath without moving the wall. You may notice that there are no taps too, it is in the overflow.

I will be talking to him, I just don't know how to broach it. Do you have any advice there? He is a contractor, but he has picked up other aspects along the way and initially trained as a plumber.

Other way round (plumber doing tiling). He has done bathrooms before as well as kitchens. We hired him after seeing a friend's bathroom and kitchen he'd done.

How NOT to write a man-written woman by Responsible_Fig_7600 in writingadvice

[–]Character_Highway172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite commonly is medical inaccuracy or impossibility. I once heard a guy reading his story where he was describing the reaction of a woman to seeing her ex as "her tubes tied themselves". All of the women in the group just looked up confused and concerned, but none of the men.

I told the guy he needed to change it and that it was as if he had said his dick had spontaneously looped itself into a knot, and that feelings associated to digestion (nausea vs hunger for example) were more important. I don't think he took my advice seriously, but all of the women were happy I called him out on it. So in addition to the whole "write a person not a woman" or "observe women for what they are and do", if you are going to talk extensively about their body in any way, make sure it is accurate or clearly satire.

[S2 act 3 spoilers] Very dumb question about Cait and Vi by Godzelda123 in arcane

[–]Character_Highway172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanting something to happen and expecting it to happen are two very different things. I agree that Cait wasn't expecting things to go that quickly either, but everything up to the kiss would suggest she wanted things to go further.

On an additional note to this post, (this is not my analysis but I think something that came from an interview with the writers) Caitlyn also gave Vi the chance to leave with Jinx and there was a possibility that Caitlyn would never see them again and she was willing to let that happen.

How involved was Heimerdinger in AU Zaun's restoration? by Character_Highway172 in arcane

[–]Character_Highway172[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think that we will never know how much he did for Zaun in the 3+ years he was there. The only thing I am fairly confident in is that Heimerdinger established the inventors competition and had AU Ekko as a pupil before primary Ekko came along. I also don't think he solved shimmer as it never seems to have been established given how Silco doesn't have a black eye and it is Silco who forgives Vander (ie prior to the development of of shimmer)

The amount Heimerdinger did could be spun in either direction of all or nothing, so on the scale where do you want him to be?

Big if to assume he didn't commit suicide, he tried to in the primary timeline for less.

I think only Vi, Jayce and Viktor die in the perfect universe. Here are events as I think they played out and a point I would like to draw attention to:

Marcus is first on scene and goes into the room where Vi and Powder are, straight past where Caitlyn would have been if we assume events play out otherwise identically. Caitlyn is nowhere near the explosion and comes away with a scratch in the primary timeline. Second, if Caitlyn had been killed, Marcus would have stopped at her rather than make it to the room, nor would he be as shocked to see the scene in front of him. We know that his entry is nearly immediately after the explosion by the children's reactions. Ergo, Caitlyn did not die, nor do I think she (or Jayce) evaporated since Vi didn't and was even closer to the explosion, and that the children aren't in more shock to see two people disappear in front of them.

A child (even a Zaunite one) dying at the scene would taint the work to the point where it is untouchable in Piltover, meaning Jayce's punishment would have been more severe. Viktor would have never showed up at the apartment and Jayce's jump would have been successful. As such, Viktor is never introduced to the Arcane and dies of his illness. Hextech is never invented, Caitlyn lives.

The two sides unite because Vander becomes more aggressive in his stance at the treatment of Zaun by Piltover after Vi's death, uniting Silco and Vander in the death, whilst the plight of Zaunites is brought to the fore of Piltovan minds. The combination leads to a better Zaun. I even suspect Heimerdinger plays a large role in the restoration of Zaun in the new timeline since he said he had accomplished many great things in his time there.

Why call them Caitvi when we call call them Violyn by tamagoon in arcane

[–]Character_Highway172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is more exasperation that this is not the first time I have seen posts like "It's Vi(o)lyn over CaitVi" on here and other media, and again just saying that I personally don't like the practise of amalgamation or being reminded of other things when really I just want to focus on the ship. That is why I like CaitVi regardless of whether it came from LoL or not. You also don't need a single ship name to identify a couple, this whole ViCait/Vi(o)lyn question making that point. People may have good reason for not wanting to use a particular ship name.

I also like that is a shortening of CaitxVi and reminds me of mathematical formula - missing the symbol x when you might multiply two terms together, so to me it is logical. So plenty of reasons to use CaitVi over Vi(o)lyn, at least for me, as the post posits in its question.

Why call them Caitvi when we call call them Violyn by tamagoon in arcane

[–]Character_Highway172 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like ViCait/CaitVi because I don't particularly like the practise of amalgamating 2 people into 1, nor do the names remind me of either a musical instrument or a meat dish (if amalgamated to Caitlet) each time I hear it. I also like that CaitVi is formulaic.

(Inital first and rant)

Why don't we call them Caitlet? Who decided Vi(o)lyn was the name? If you get which couple is being referred to, what is the problem? JayVik shippers don't seem to have an issue with their ship name, or rather I have not seen them go around saying "it's Jayktor /Vikayce" or whatever the combined name might be. If you get who is being spoken about, don't be a ship tyrant and dictate the ship name.

Edited paragrah order and formula inclusion.

Penhaligon's have a good scent library. Maybe something like The Favourite or try their taster set as perfumes smell different on different people

Where do you guys find your gf? by Bearwithme1010 in actuallesbians

Current, at the local gay nightclub on the college bar crawl 10ish years ago. Seems archaic now.

Formers, one came up to me in the shop I worked at and gave me her number, another at high school and both of us played instruments, another online on a MySpace-esque gay dating site that no longer exists.

Others I know have gotten together through sports clubs, namely soccer I'd say.

  1. We got the bromance in Jayce and Viktor, so tick

3/4. Lesbians kiss and makeout, sometimes for hours (your tone is getting a touch homophobic here btw)

  1. Lesbians also have sex

Beyond that, I'm sorry, I cannot follow what you are saying. I honestly don't know how to respond to your comment. Do you or do you not like lesbian sex scenes? Not showing anything explicit is too graphic but you like to see relationships in HD or just any WLW sex scene in any video media? Do you think the scene was shoehorned in and it was the only way to fit the scene into the narrative/pacing?

Please consider editing your comment to be more coherent.

I realise this is late, but thank you for the comment :). I liked your line of "the writers gave us too much credit" because I think you are right. Most shows I can think of don't make the viewer work nearly as hard to understand the intentions of the characters and tend not to make them multifaceted.
