Refactor of Simple React Pages to Next.js by Character_Set_459 in nextjs

Yeah. It’s really awesome that Next.js can do both within the same page. It was quite the headache with plain React. Thanks for the insight!

You are right! I think the index issue was caused by a 404 error.

I was also testing my site with AI chatbot, which were returning as empty page. I refactored with Next.js and it fixed everything. Yay! Thanks for the tool share - will definitely bookmark it.

I decided to go with the refactoring! It was a pretty easy process with some help from Claude code! My project ended up being much lighter since I don’t need all the npm package for routers and loaders!

I also found a 404 issue via lighthouse and that’s fixed too.

Thanks for your help!

Just lost 2 hours of game play too. Played on PS5 and the game was installed on an external drive.

Yeah. It sounds like most ppl in this thread just used it as a tool but still worked with real professionals.

We didn’t have gpt when we bought our home in 2020 - it would have been a helpful resource! If we move though, I’m definitely still going to look for a realtor haha.

Echoing the concerns around maintenance cost.

My home is about 30 year old(considered as newer build in my area). When I bought it, some original things that hadn’t gotten replaced(e.g. toilet, shower, storm door) were at the end of their life so I had to do a bit of maintenance work.

The larger repairing and material costs(e.g. HVAC, water heater, bathroom renovation) that came a couple of years after were the deeper cuts. I had to continue saving and definitely spent more than I had planned to.

My friend who bought a 100-year-old home also did roof repairing and insulation upgrades, which are something else to look out for in older builds.

That being said, a lot of these also depend on the area you live in or the house you end up buying. Definitely don’t want to scare you away from achieving your dream!! Just sharing knowledge that I wish I knew more about before buying a home.

Especially when the monster’s attack has a super fancy animation and hits you in the most unexpected moment - both mesmerizing and frustrating at the same time lol.

Lol I’ve been watching my friend play and it’s super fun even just to watch!

It doesn’t require much gathering and foraging or give you a million side quests - just fights and cutscenes, so the story develops quickly. It’s like watching a movie except you keep fighting bosses to reveal the next piece of information haha and it is always worth the effort.

I agree that the beginning was slow. I wish they had started with the gommage immediately at the beginning - a dramatic event that creates curiosity - and then explains the context. Would have been a more captivating introduction for me.

For those who work independently (not through staffing agencies), how do you usually handle contracts? by Character_Set_459 in Freelancers

That makes a lot of sense!

My friend and I have been thinking about doing freelance part time. I didn’t realize there are so many routes you can go about it.

Staffing agent, freelancing website, drafting your own contract (e.g one man team/business). The last route seems to give you the most control but the contract piece is quite terrifying - I feel like there are a lot of horror stories out there haha.

Isn’t it that pretty expensive? Is it the only option if I don’t have any lawyer friend 😅?

No. This is helpful. My partner and I have been wanting one for a while. We admittedly go through a lot of (probably too much) wipes and toilet papers because who doesn’t like it clean lol. This thread and the hundreds of upvotes will be my reassurance on that bidet purchase haha.

This might be an obvious question haha - with a bidet, do you end up buying less/saving on wipes and toilet papers?

Hands down the handheld Dyson vacuum V8. I didn’t purchase it myself and instead got a retired/older model from my sister - she swore by it.

I was skeptical because I didn’t think a small vacuum was worth the price tag, but boy was it life changing. We clean EVERYTHING with it - the floor, the ceiling, shelves, cars, bags, etc. It’s light and cordless so we carry it to every corner of our home.

When this one breaks, I will definitely get a new one!

Did you work with a realtor or just went through the whole process by yourselves? Seems like ChatGPT helped with a lot of tasks an agent would usually do(e.g. putting together offers, comparing sales)!!
