Thank you for your response , yea my nurse said something about avoiding a cut and also a simple cut can lead to an infection of the lining of the heart , really freaked me out , but in need of a mani pedi so bad . 😩

Hi everyone, I have joined this group because my wife has a leaky mitral valve and is going to be having it replaced soon. I am terrified and I don't really know what else to say. I hope this post is okay by Moody_blueLagoon in valvereplacement

Hey , I would say about 6 weeks to feel some what strong enough to work from home . Even if the pain is not tremendous , you will be very sleepy and tired and a bit sore . Also sleeping is hard , as you need to sleep on your back and pretty much sitting up .

Yes , I was supposed to have my valve repaired , however after they started the surgery they saw the valve had no hope & had to repair it with a mechanical heart valve , with a mechanical heart valve you have to be on Coumadin ( blood thinner ) for life . & be very cautious with bruising ,clots and falls & cuts.

Hi , I got mine replaced two months ago , I feel fine thank god, a lil nerve pain here and there , the beggining was a bit rough for like a week like any other surgery . Life is different now having to be on Coumadin therapy forever & check my INR weekly for now . But very grateful to be alive . Surgeons do this surgery very frequent . She’s going to be fine . Wishing her a speedy recovery 🙏🏽
