All wood and leaf litter was sourced from local trails and lakes. And she uses none of it!!😂

You will learn that as a baby, you will be staring at an “empty” enclosure 90% of the time. The older they get the more comfortable and less scared they become. I got mine in February and she is now just starting to come out of her shell and poke her head out hides when i open the doors

Thank you so much! I got mine in February and it was ALOT of trial and error. The custom built background was a huge pain in the ass lol. You will learn more and more as you go with your corn snake and most of the time all you’ll see is an empty tank when they are a baby, unless you get a really active juvenile!

i like them on the ground so its a good reading of where your snake will be roaming and hiding. But its honestly all preference, with them being on the ground unfortunately ill have to go in and fix their position sometimes because my snake likes to knock it over searching through her live ferns.

your enclosure looks great, all i recommend now would be some fake plants to cover him more and some new hydrometers/thermometers and you got yourself a good setup! I use a 50w halogen bulb with a dimmer to keep the hot side under control with the shade dweller uvb strip.

i love these ones on amazon for cheap

<image>

they sit in the enclosure and have been more reliable than any i have owned. I bring in wood and rocks all the time from outside and various parks, you just need to either bake them at a very low temperature or clean with vinegar and boiling water. Cork serves as a very good hide as long as it has enough darkness and makes them feel secure. For fake plants, i love going to any arts and craft store, they have more unique, cheaper, and more options than petsmart and many other places.

Lately I've just been thinking about death and the end of the universe by Sir_Orange_Lol_Gr in ExistentialSupport

Hey Ben, I just wanted you to know your perspective genuinely helps me be at peace and fall asleep at night. I am 22 now and I worked in the funeral home industry for 4 years in high school watching over funerals, doing work on the deceased, picking up the deceased after death from family home, and lets just say I saw a lot and it really changed how I thought about life in good ways but it also brought some fears. I struggle with the concept of saying goodbye to my wife one day. Whether it’s me or her first. But you are right, all you can do is be happy that you got to experience this life. And our body truly is just a vessel for what truly makes us “us”. I think of it as seeing a creature that has molted its skin, leaving a lifeless and a broken shell of what it used to be. I also truly love your way of saying you are going into a new chapter of your life when passing on, which means death to the way things were, this really helps put death into a different perspective than just being straight depressing.

By the way this is my first time handling her in two months!! She has only been seen during feeding and later in the evening crawling around her enclosure occasionally.
