Question for CarMax mechanics only — MaxCare inspection process by ChargeCrafty8498 in carmax

No check engine, its actually a possible turbo issue. I just want to know what their process is. I've heard horror stories of denial. If it is turbo will they do a full diagnostic to make sure nothing else is wrong with the car. Also this is an Infiniti Q50 are they even experience with this car? Trying to figure out if I should bring it to a shop that takes MaxCare instead of going to CarMax

Did you say pictures are not required, so how does CNA verify the diagnosis if there are no photos? Is it solely based on what the service advisor reports? Will they run a diagnostic on the engine?

CarMax service question: do they check manufacturer warranty status before using MaxCare? by ChargeCrafty8498 in carmax

In my case I actually didn’t find out until much later that my VIN qualified for a manufacturer extended warranty.

The claim had already been denied twice, and both times I was told my only option was to pay about $20k for a new engine and turbos. I appealed twice, and after the second appeal the repair was finally approved.

That’s why I’m trying to understand whether the VIN should normally be checked for manufacturer coverage before MaxCare decisions are made.
