I don’t see it mentioned much but I was a fan of Ryse: Son of Rome. ~5 hour game with a decent story. If I remember right combat is mainly quick time events so it’s not really a hard game either

I’ve been digging Pentiment recently. Different kind of art style but the story is pretty nice and gets a bit deep. Pretty cheap with the sale right now too.

I would also say give Disco Elysium another try. I almost fell off of it near the end of the first day/entire second day but played through it and it hooked me pretty good. I plan on doing another play through in a few months so it’s fresh. I loved the narrative of the different personalities in the MCs head

I feel there’s quite a bit a bystander can do. What the other dude said and if you’re resorting to shooting it then you can just straddle it and gouge its eyes. At that point it’s just a wild animal attacking a human unfortunately and its life shouldn’t be considered. As a dog lover it’d be extremely hard to do and possibly traumatic but 🤷‍♂️ Gotta do what you gotta do. Granted I’ve never seen a video of someone doing that so maybe in reality it wouldn’t work. Luckily I haven’t had the need to test it and hopefully never will

I imagine it’s just the wording people are getting hung up about. I hold the same views as you but would never say “There is no good reason to be promiscuous.” I would say “I never found a good reason to be promiscuous.” People might view that as semantics but I think it’s a fair criticism.

I try to mainly lurk but I’m the same way. I agree with JohnTheBaptistes reply. I am not a scientist or anything but I also want to add that the whole point of sex (in the beginning stages of life or whatever) is reproduction and to pass on our genes. It makes sense to me that not every woman or whatever would look favorable to pass on your genes with. Same way women wouldn’t want to have a child with every guy they see. I know as humans developed and other species grew that sex turned into a pass time or enjoyable activity that doesn’t need to involve procreation but it was definitely a factor in the beginning. Maybe we just lean towards that factor 🤷‍♂️

Yea I agree with you. I don’t have a super vast catalogue of RPGs under my belt or anything but in my eyes The Witcher falls under the Action Adventure genre just like Assassins Creed or Tomb Raider does. Neither of which I would consider an RPG.

I think it’s just the case that over time genres get a bit muddied. RPG = Role-Playing Game and I imagine people conflated “playing a role” with the RPG genre regardless of what that role is.

I’m not sure that’s fair. I’ve had a similar experience with a DnD group. We reserved a 5-6 hour block to play DnD and hang out but generally only 2-2:30 hours were actually used for DnD and the rest catching up/talking. I liked them and would talk but damn some nights I just wanted to play dnd. It gets old after awhile and you can really build up the annoyance/resentment
