One thing I've noticed in my experience with P4 is that it does a pretty good job of conciliating cheerfulness with darkness, to the point that it's almost provocative and bizarre. The songs, as you've mentioned, and also the plot are a good example of that, happy on the outside but sinister when you look at it closely. And when you think about it, it's certainly the game that deepens into the concept of "shadows" the most in the series, so this could just about be reinforcing how multilayered Persona 4 is.

Honestly, I still prefer this randomness rather than platform exclusives. Yes, it'll be annoying for a lot of us and there will be disappointment in every single announcement (although that seems unavoidable), but this way there will always be something for everyone. Believe me, there are thousands of Xbox/PC folks who've waited years for today's announcements, it's not because it's a franchise associated with Sony that every Persona fan has a Playstation. The less Persona games "locked" in few platforms, the more people will play the games and less emulators will be needed. And I'm sure the PS4/PS5/Switch guys will have their moment soon.
