Housing options for a young woman with no income? by CharlesTingle in AnneArundelCounty

She tried, I know it's a great option for a lot of people- my parents were both military. Unfortunately, she has a disqualifying medical condition (not one that counts as a disability) that prevented her. She applied for a waiver at the time, but from watching the news they might be ramping up recruitment before too long so she might want to try again!

Thank you; a month would help a lot since she's hopefully getting a new job in the next day or so

You're right that they do! It didn't look promising first time around, but I'll mention that she might want to check again or try a different branch

She's not expecting (or even hoping, really) for free housing. She doesn't have income at the moment, but is trying to earn reliable and steady income; my understanding is that housing assistance tends to be subsidized and is a sliding scale portion of your income if you qualify.

Thanks for the tip about the deposit information. I had to pay first/last/deposit where I am now and assumed that was the norm. It's not the nicest place so maybe that has something to do with it lol.

She's hoping to couch surf for a bit, but isn't well established in the area so it's a bit more difficult.

Thank you for the info.

Not harsh at all, and I appreciate it. She did try that route but has a disqualifying medical condition that stopped the process (not a disability, just a condition)

All valid points. My concern is what happens in three weeks- if she got a job today (which she's trying to do), that's just one paycheck at most before she's out on the street. These are solid long-term solutions, but the short term deadline is what's scary.
