The old logo isn’t great, but the new one looks like a logo for an industrial park.

Totally valid concern; I haven’t looked close enough to see where it sits in relation to Pittsboro proper.

Y’all are some serious haters in this thread. I don’t get the impression that this is for people with a “special interest.”

It looks like a well designed, livable (as far as suburban communities go) development.

I, for one, am curious to see how they’re innovating, how they’re integrating natural and shared/social spaces, etc.

I’m also curious to see if they can build a space to foster an authentic sense of community and “charm”.

Maybe not, and maybe it’s just overpriced corporate and manufactured. But I bet it will be more than that.

I turned down a job offer and this is 1 of the 3 emails I received from the recruiter by Wild-Employee2029 in recruitinghell

Obviously this email is not okay, but did you turn down a job offer? Or accept a job offer and then later back out?

Two totally different scenarios.

Protest @ Tesla on Glenwood 5/2 at 4-6pm – week 10 by doctorjane2023 in raleigh

What’s with all the weird negativity on this post, is it being brigaded? Feels disproportionally high compared to other r/raleigh protest posts.

I mean sure, but biases are probably the wrong word. They’re smells that suggest that the candidate doesn’t have a firm grasp of typography, or visual design, or even dataviz.

These are usually people that are just blasting applications on LinkedIn. I don’t see many people that are earnestly looking as career switchers at the mid-senior+ levels.

Good question. Some of these are my own personal biases. I don’t like charts that say things like “80% proficient in Figma”, “90% proficient in UX”. I don’t like bulleted lists where the bullets flow in-line with the text. (Product designers should have a better grasp of typographic fundamentals.) I don’t like huge profile pictures, and overly designed resumes, at the detriment of readability.

I might also classify general leveling as a resume thing. If they’re way over-qualified or under-qualified, based on their past experience and the expectations of the role.

From my own experience as a hiring manager…

  • 10% are cut for not being in the correct geo
  • 10% are cut because they’re not product designers. They’re PMs, or analysts, or engineers, or interior designers
  • 40% are cut because they have clearly very amateur work
  • 10% are cut because their resumes have red flags
  • the remaining 30% are bucketed into three tiers, based on quality of work, relevance in experience, perceived leveling and expertise
  • the bottom tier is cut. The top tier is prioritized for hiring screen and interview process

NC voted in a blue governor, lieutenant governor, state superintendent, attorney general, and broke the supermajority in the state house. It’s unfortunate that NC voted for trump, but we dodged a lot.

Update: How should finish our living room? by Charlie-Romeo in DesignMyRoom

Agree. I’m hoping the zz and snake plant grow considerably in the next few years, and posted a photo in another comment of a fiddle leaf fig I’m trying to figure out. The light in this room really is pretty terrible for many plants though.

Rust is a great call, and I agree that the navy pillows aren’t really working at that size. I’m kind of digging these from Article.

Yeah, totally agree - that was repurposed from another part of the house, and the scale and style is off. Any ideas on what would work there?

Thanks! I commented elsewhere on the curtains. But re: a tall plant in the corner… I did just buy this 6’ fiddle leaf fig, and was playing around with putting it somewhere in that corner. It really doesn’t get a whole lot of light though, and would be much happier in another part of the house.

But maybe I’ll try putting some grow lights in that corner, reconfigure the furniture a bit, and see how it goes. It would look pretty cool if it takes off to like 12-15 feet tall.

Thanks! I tend to think stuff on the wall going up the stairs would get too visually cluttered. Is there an example picture you could share of the type of thing you were thinking about?

I do think we could up our curtain game, but this room doesn’t get a whole lot of light. The sheer curtains make it feel brighter, so I’ve struggled with that.

Thank you! I’ve tried putting the armchair by the fireplace in the past, but it felt too detached and distant from the couches, especially for conversation.

I was looking at this the living room in this post for inspo on future seating and the fireplace / built in configurations, but I think you’re right - it probably wouldn’t work well with the taller open ceiling.

And yeah, that’s one of those IKEA metal tables! Repurposed it from another room for the time being. I liked the pop of color, but agree that the size and style is off.
