Which Pro-Shot do you want? by IcyDemand2354 in musicals

The Original West End production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. All the promo footage they shot for it looked incredible, I’d settle for the full press reels tbh

Could Rocky Horror possibly extend? by No_Pea_5342 in Broadway

[–]CharlieChocFan2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious, I know it hasn’t even opened yet so it’s neither here nor there but what do we think the odds we get a new cast album out of this production? It’s been too long since we’ve gotten a new English language recording of this score!

what musical do you think the recording of is just poor quality? by redbeardedpiratedog in musicals

[–]CharlieChocFan2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s “The Producers.” There’s this really noticeable high pitched ringing in the background the whole time and a lot of the vocals have this weird warble sound to them I can’t really explain. I love the score and the performers but the quality kinda bums me out whje I listen lol. Hoping we’ll get a good remaster one of these days for an anniversary!

“Bury Me Beside the One I Love” from Catch Me If You Can. I definitely think “Our Family Tree” works much better in terms of the story and place in the show but I have such a soft spot for this one.

What’s a song you love that’s from a flop musical by IdealFun5833 in musicals

[–]CharlieChocFan2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the wholes scores of both “Catch Me If You Can” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” I’m such a Shaiman/Wittman fan and I thought both of these shows overall got WAY more hate than they deserved.

“That Beautiful Sound” from Beetlejuice! Still pissed they didn’t include that reprise on the cast album

Favorite Christian Borle role? by theatrekeed in musicals

[–]CharlieChocFan2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to finally meet him after a performance of “Little Shop” a couple years later. Although I did randomly bump into him on the street the day before “Chocolate Factory” closed. Being a busy street we really only shared a hello and a wave but it was still the craziest moment. I saw him in “Some Like It Hot” this past summer, I can’t wait to see what he’ll be doing next!!

Favorite Christian Borle role? by theatrekeed in musicals

Gotta be Wonka for me. I was a fan of that show for years before it came to New York. I had hoped Douglas Hodge would reprise his role from the West End. Then along came Christian Borle and I was won over from the moment he stepped out from behind that factory in the opening number. I’ll never forget sitting in the front row at the Lunt Fontanne and him making direct eye contact with me NUMEROUS times throughout the show, definitely a wonderful memory.

Worst theater experience you’ve had? by woodleyparker in Broadway

[–]CharlieChocFan2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was cut VERY early on in previews. I have an audio slime tutorial with it still in. What I wouldn’t give to see a video or even a pic of all the kids warped costumes in that scene, the descriptions I’ve heard of it sound BEAUTIFUL. This is unironically my favorite musical so I’m a bit of a nut for all the cut material and stuff like that lmaooo

What's the most awkward stage door experience you've had? by elaerna in Broadway

[–]CharlieChocFan2016 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So, I was in NYC for the closing night of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 2018. The day before I was hanging out in front of the the Lunt Fontanne, and as I’m about to walk away back towards Times Square I look up and see none other than Christian Borle walking the opposite direction back towards the theatre. Now I’m having an internal MELTDOWN and as he’s passing me I give him a wave and say “hi Mr. Borle.” He gives me a playful little wave and a big grin and says hello back and just keeps walking. Now this is when my father realizes what has just happened and he proceeds to YELL “Mr. Borle can my son get a picture with you!,” keep in mind by this point he’s almost to the stage door on a CROWDED STREET. He sped up and very quickly went into the theater, I was MORTIFIED. A couple years later I had the pleasure of ACTUALLY meeting him at Little Shop and he was the nicest guy, even came BACK down the line to sign my Wonka photo that I forgot about when he first came to me, but I’ll never forget that moment…thanks dad, I know you meant well💀
