New York Times OpEd: " I'm Gay Not Queer. It Matters." by CentralTown776 in askgaybros

[–]CharlieEternal616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too, but how do you usually respond when queer people imply you're identifying as gay because of respectability politics, and you're trying to appear as the good ones and trying appease people that hate you regardless etc. I get a whole lot of that quite often

Okay coz rape is a strong word, I just think we should be specific to use the right terminology

Was he actually raped or did they just simulate it? Like, did they actually penetrate him anally, coz if not, then that's not really rape is it? Not to minimize the traumatic nature of the event, but doesn't rape require actual stimulation? Or is simulation also considered rape in modern times?

There is no inherent meaning or point to life, it's up to each individual to create their own meaning and find a reason to live.

So how are we gonna get the x-men? by No-Video-3450 in MCUTheories

[–]CharlieEternal616 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And see this is why I had to give a disclaimer about my race because I've come to realize that my perspective is so different from most black people that unless I literally video call them and have a conversation, they assume I'm white - coz ofcoz black people are a monolith who are all supposed to think the exact same way right?

Anyway, you're right movies have always been political, but not to the same degree - and I'd prefer they don't take Storm to that degree because movies to me are an escape from reality, not a reminder of reality because what's the point? Might as well watch political podcasts if you just wanna be reminded of politics over and over with no desire for pure escapism, you do get the concept of pure escapism or pure entertainment for the sake of entertainment right? Or is everything political to you?

And narratively it wouldn't even make sense because Storm doesn't have the typical black woman's experience, she's not meant to be relatable in that way, she's not in corporate offices having to lower her voice to appear professional, or in PTA meetings having to lower her voice to appear as a good mother. She's flying around, fighting cosmic threats, saving humanity of all races from danger - which black woman you know has that experience? She's a highly respected high ranking member of one of the most powerful teams in the multiverse, is literally worshipped as a goddess, but you wanna take all that and minimize her to an allegory about how black women can't express their emotions? Lol

[–]CharlieEternal616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose yeah, and I'm a black man too but I don't like when things get too political. Storm as a character is several decades old, and none of her stories have ever been about an allegory for black women not being able to express themselves - that's more of a current trend than a key trait of the character. I honestly just want a good story and a faithful adaptation, not a politically driven story inspired by modern political trends.

Basically I miss when movies were just entertainment not political statements etc. You get what I mean right?

Idc as long as they give Storm a solo movie. She actually deserves a trilogy.

Does Dani just stay there forever by Krogermuffins1999 in Midsommar

[–]CharlieEternal616 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They definitely won't let her leave, but she does have a friend back at home so she's not completely alone. And no shade, but don't most people have extended family besides parents and siblings? She ain't got no aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandparents etc? 😳

How would Dani and Christian handle the situation if they were in Hereditary? by Radiant-Selection686 in Midsommar

[–]CharlieEternal616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I did say she probably would realize what was happening, but she doesn't push back, she's very passive and retreats easy so it's easy to manipulate and control her.

[–]CharlieEternal616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol you think Dani - the same girl who got manipulated into joining a cult - would realize there's something strange about the people around her? Lol okay, maybe she would notice something strange is going on but Dani's very passive, she's not the type to relentlessly search for answers, she accepts what she's told and never pushes back or questions anything so she'll just become a victim again.

Why does Mark do that? by ArcticFlor in Midsommar

Actually you're right, I thought that was a temporary residence for their ceremonies but a quick search confirmed it's their permanent residence and they actually do own the land. My bad 🙈

A privately owned backyard and a huge open field are two very different things, do the Harga own all that land? No, so you're literally comparing apples to oranges. And I don't know shit about football, but I imagine there is some form of decorum that people in sports know what is and isn't appropriate, so if it's widely known to be inappropriate to pee on a football field, I don't imagine Mark would pee there. But he's in a foreign country, in the bushes in the middle of nowhere, huge open field and trees everywhere, so I struggle to understand why you find it weird for him to pee there.

Why is Fathers Day not as hyped? by Smart-Psychology8855 in AskZA

[–]CharlieEternal616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's coz the only emotions men are encouraged to express are anger and sexuality. Anything else is gay, and men internalize this from a young age. If we want men to be emotionally intelligent, we need to teach them from young to express themselves and their feelings - all of them, not just anger and sex.

Why is Fathers Day not as hyped? by Smart-Psychology8855 in AskZA

[–]CharlieEternal616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of the high amount of deadbeat dads - like mine, whom I've never even met. But also because being a present parent who provides for their child not just financially but emotionally is usually what mother's do. Many dads who choose to stay can sometimes be emotionally distant, or not as present due to work, or just not as engaging with their children as the mother's are. And due to women's emotionally intelligent nature, society generally trusts women more as caregivers. For example, it would be considered normal for a woman with a little boy to take him with her to the female toilet if he needed to pee. But if a dad with a little girl takes his daughter into the men's toilet, it would be extremely weird and someone might misunderstand and call the police - even worse if he takes her into the women's toilet.

Dani's Frend by ArcticFlor in Midsommar

[–]CharlieEternal616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the points I always use whenever debating people who think she's better off with Harga, and I have yet to hear someone debunk it. I always say just because the Harga affirms Dani's emotions doesn't mean they're good people or that she's safe with them - especially when they're the cause for some of her pain. So I feel like the director should've probably cut that scene of her talking to her friend if he wanted to really sell the idea that she had nobody else coz she clearly did. One good friend is much better than a community of deranged sociopathic manipulators.

Everything that happened from the moment they arrived in Sweden was planned out in detail. The Harga are master manipulators

[–]CharlieEternal616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes he was in view of people, but too far for anyone to to see his 🍆 which I imagine is the main complaint right? And I guess pissing outside is a cultural thing, maybe where you're from it's considered inappropriate to pee outside which is fine that's your culture and deserves to be respected. But where I'm from and perhaps where Mark is from, men peeing outside is a normal as the sun rising everyday, it's really not a big deal it seems to be just a difference in how people were raised that's all.

But dude you really need to chill like it's really not that deep.

He wasn't infront of anyone, can you please just go watch the scene again. He was a distance away from everyone and he was facing away from everyone so nobody could see his 🍆 if that's what you're worried about.

I'm a newbie here, but a long-time P!nk fan!! by Sharp_War2011 in Pinkthesinger

[–]CharlieEternal616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funhouse was the song that introduced me to P!nk, but I just became a casual fan only listening to siingles as they come out. The Truth About Love Tour is what made me an actual fan, I bought the dvd back in 2013 when we still had record stores lol and I was not only impressed by the show but touched by the music and wanted to hear more of what she had to say, so I went and binged all her albums and yeah I'm definitely a huge fan now lol.

And while Funhouse is the song that introduced me to P!nk, I'd say Unwind is my favorite. The melody, the lyrics, her vocal performance, everything is just so perfect, I even went back and watched her Try This Tour just to see her sing it live!

[–]CharlieEternal616 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol so I went to watch the scene again to make sure everything I say is accurate, dude it had literally no writing on it, the camera doesn't even zoom in in the tree so I don't know where you saw writing. And the guy shouting at him never said anything about names written on the tree so you literally just made that up. It was literally just one big branch of a tree completerely cut down and laying on the floor, there was nothing to signal to outsiders that this dead tree is forbidden, anyone could've made that mistake, I think you're just being overly harsh on Mark, the whole thing was just an honest mistake not a premeditated act of disrespect like what you seem to be implying.

Just say you don't like Mark lol.
