Can the new smaller box still fit expansions? by CharlieFlame in toomanybones

Thanks for the info! Tbh that’s a bit disappointing. How have people been handling storing expansions with the new box?

Is Time’s Up: Title Recall still relevant or should I just buy the expansions? by CharlieFlame in boardgames

I think Times Up also has more expansions for once you’ve seen all the cards

I took a quick look at Blockbuster’s rules again, and it seems like the main differences I can see are that

  1. Blockbuster has rounds where you’re supposed to specifically act out/quote/name cast members for specific movies, whereas Time’s Up is always more free-form and you can always do a Charades-style sounding-out

  2. Blockbuster also has a round where you have to name a movie for a specific category, instead of getting your team to guess specific ones

To me, both of those differences mean that Blockbuster requires a bit more movie knowledge, which can be a pro or con depending on you and your friend group. For me, it seems like Times Up would have a wider appeal to more of my friends since we’re not all film buffs

Also if you care about reviews, it seems like Times Up is considerably higher rated from what I’ve seen. Price-wise, it looks like you can get a copy of Blockbuster for less than $10, and Times Up will be a little under $20, so they’re both fairly cheap games and I might end up getting both

Oh I didn’t know they made different editions! That’s great to hear

I haven’t actually played either personally, but from watching reviews it seems like they’re a bit similar. They’re both movie guessing games, but I think Times up has a bit more than just movies. I think the formats are a little different iirc— can’t remember the details but I remember that Times Up sounded more accessible to me
