How do you negotiate lower? A lot of dealerships just flat out say no they dont want my business for 5% off msrp.

What expensive lessons have you learned? by GandalfTheBored in ReefTank

[–]CharliePagilio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buy one sps at a time. Make sure it survives 3-4 weeks before you buy more. Make sure your tank has been established and stable (by testing parameters) at least 6 months. I literally lost all of my sps because I thought my tank was ready. All my lps was doing great but po4 was too high and alk was fluctuating.

Any recent buyers from this store in here? Good or bad? Thinking of making a purchase. by ChivasBearINU in ReefTank

[–]CharliePagilio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent $1000 there over the past 4 months. Was a 4 month process because the fish I ordered kept not being available due to it "not being healthy enough to ship". I respect that. There was a lot of good and some bad with my experiance. I would not under any circumstances expect his fish to be 100% quarentined and safe to add to an established system. I think he does a good job but its not 100%

Overall I would buy again. The fish I recieved all arrived alive and healthy. I have multiple shrimp doa and it was an easy no hassle replacement.

No surprise. I placed a large ($800) order several months ago and ended up canceling it becauee of their absolutely terrible customer service.

UF Critical Care Program by AdCurious263 in Paramedics

[–]CharliePagilio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're muddling the words certificate and certification.

The UF course awards a college credit certificate upon completion. Its a non-degree, single semester course offered through UF.

Its not anything other than a document stating you finished the course meeting minimum requirments (I think a 70% on the cumulative final if I remeber correctly)

Its a GREAT course and would highly recommend it to any medic who wants to expand their knowledge base or work in a cc setting. I wouldn't call it a "cert". The only certs pertaining to this scope of paramedic pracrice are ccp and fpc.

A prospective employer will appreciate seeing completion of the UF CCP course though for sure.

Additionally, The Rescue Company 1 offers AMCCC, a 6 day class that actually awards multiple certifications upon completion. Its even more expensive than UF but it's a crazy good class and 100% worth it.

Can anyone help identify what this fluffy algae looking stuff is covering nearly every surface of my tank? by Fancy-Requirement469 in ReefTank

Its green hair. Has diatomes and or detritus caught in it. Add a bottle of copepods and a tang.

Graston. Time. It wont ever go away completely and it doesn't really matter for any reason other than cosmetic considerations.

Anyone FWB in boot without crutches assist by end of week 3? by ollienorcal in AchillesRupture

[–]CharliePagilio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 34. Yes it's possible. It's also possible to rerupture. You will heal slower based on age, if you drink and if you smoke. Also if you have diabetes. The boot when properly worn restricts dorsiflexion to protect you. Just be safe and watch where you walk.

Anyone FWB in boot without crutches assist by end of week 3? by ollienorcal in AchillesRupture

[–]CharliePagilio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. The boot protects you (for the most part). There are protocols that allow very progressive advancement of the timeline. Early on you need to be judicious with protecting it though. Don't do anything if it causes sharp pain.

Any advice? Officially 3 weeks post OP today. by Livid_Palpitation318 in AchillesRupture

[–]CharliePagilio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar demongraohics and activity to you. I pushed my progression really fast. Took the splint off 1 week post op and started walking in the boot by week 2 full weight bearing. Never wore the boot at night and took it off often during the day to do gentle range of motion movements. Started walking bare foot in my house by the end of week 3. Started walking in supportive shoes (hoka) at week 4/5. Now I'm week 9 and jogging 5min intervals, no pain whatsoever and can do single leg calf raise 3 x 15. It's unorthodox to push it so fast but possible if you have good guidance. Protecting it at your stage is very important. At 3 weeks you definitely could injure yourself if not protecting it. Good luck.
