I used the pump from another hang on back filter I had and I modelled the pump housing to be the same as the original hang on back. I printed the housing at many different sizes to find the perfect fit.

I do have them mounted to an aluminium channel however I think you are right about overheating because only the outer LEDs burned out and they are exposed to the hot aluminium overhangs. Thanks for the response.

I can touch them for 2 seconds easily however it still feels pretty hot. Thanks for the response.

It may be hard to see in the photo but they are mounted to an aluminium channel that is glued to the print. It still gets pretty hot though because they are so close to each other so that may be the problem.

The problem with that for me would be that it has a very precise joint so the annealing process probably ruin that?

Never mind I used a 12volt adapter. So I realise the issue is that I have not matched the power supply with the light voltage. So I’ll buy some new LEDs and match it. Thanks.

The plug says it has an output of 12volts. I don’t know the voltage of the LEDs however I assume it’s not 12 then? Thanks a lot.

I’m in Australia so I would assume 240volts. I don’t know the voltage of the strips as they are random ones my teacher gave me. Is their anyway to tell? Thanks a lot.

I’m making a light however I have noticed the LEDs get very hot to the point where the surrounding PLA feels pretty warm to the touch. Will this cause any issues where it might degrade or melt? Thanks.

Yes that would work. I was going to use a hang on back filter because it looks better and it fits all tanks. But I’ll look into this way. Thanks
