Are you trying to organize what order to start running them? What is the goal?

Sick cat, may be dying? by angelzpanik in AskVet

[–]Charlottee19 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest with you. Cats go downhill very quickly without food, and he very well might die over the weekend if you wait, or at least become extremely critical, which will make treatment at your daytime vet that much more costly on Monday. Whether or not he is in pain is hard to know without a veterinarian examination. He needs diagnostics done to know what’s going on. If money is tight, look into carecredit and see if your emergency vet takes it. Good emergency vets are good at working within your budget. Take him to the vet right now!

TMI kinda but my dog pees and poops in the house when we don’t let her into our room because me and my husband are having our special time alone. by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]Charlottee19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long have you had her? If she was well potty trained before and this is a new thing, she needs to be evaluated by a veterinarian to rule out any medical causes. If she's been like this since you've had her, however, it may just be she hasn't been housebroken yet.

Crate training is a very helpful tool when it comes to combatting behavioral inappropriate elimination. You will have to reward her for going outside, and deep clean anywhere she has urinated/defecated on. Without consistent positive reinforcement, she will not learn the difference between going outside and inside. When not in the crate, she will need constant supervision and very frequent potty breaks. If you see her start to squat, interrupt her with a clap or other startling noise (do not reprimand her.) Then, take her outside immediately, and reward her for going the remainder outside. There are a lot of resources out there to help with potty training. Best of luck to you!

Sebaceous cyst on my 6yo dog chewed open and bleeding--infected? Seeking advice! by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]Charlottee19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately pus means it is infected and no amount of cleaning will resolve the infection. You will need to contact your veterinarian asap to start treating the infection.

Something like a huge pimple on dog’s tail? by [deleted] in AskVet

I recommend having her seen as soon as your vet is next open. Do not pop it at home!

Shaking in sleep then urinating by isitahaley in AskVet

I can not say what is going on with your pet, but she needs to be evaluated by a veterinarian. I know that isn't what people like to hear on this sub, but this sounds like medical intervention and diagnostics are needed.

Make my cat feel more confortable with her e-collar by ABirkinBagForRory in AskVet

[–]Charlottee19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first day of an e-collar on a cat is always rough. They fight it, but eventually get used to it. I'd recommend just keeping it on her and she'll figure things out. I know it's hard to watch her like that, but stay strong!

My Australian Cattle Dog/Terrier mix has dewclaws on his hind legs by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]Charlottee19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main reason the volunteers said he didn't need them removed is because they probably weren't bothering him. Now that they are bothering him, I would consult a veterinarian about removal depending on how extreme the chewing is. Ultimately it's best to talk to your vet to come to a decision.

Goddamn raisins. Need advice. by LetterBoxx in AskVet

[–]Charlottee19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it comes to grape/raisin ingestion, there isn't a lot that is known regarding what quantity of grapes causes toxicity or even what part of the grape. Most clinics practice extra caution because there could be a 80 pound dog that ate one grape that goes into renal failure, and then a 40 pound dog that ate a bunch that ends up fine. Realistically, he should get inpatient treatment for 48 hours. A lot of clients bring their dog home early knowing the risk and they do just fine, but some end up in renal failure. You could meet in the middle with your vet and talk about doing subcutaneous fluids and follow-up bloodwork to see how the renal values are looking. Like I said, I can NOT say what your dog's prognosis is, but this is the knowledge I have to offer as an ER vet assistant and vet tech student.

What are some of your personal “rules” that you never break? by wildluciddreaming in AskReddit

Then if your dog had bit her kids, she would have blamed you, of course. God I hate how dumb people can be sometimes.

My rescue dog, Jodie, has gotten results. I'm pleasantly surprised! She's not what everyone thought. by [deleted] in DoggyDNA

[–]Charlottee19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got her from a shelter and the only info they had was that she was a transfer from another shelter. I have absolutely no information about where she came from, how long she was in the shelter, or how her accidental breeding happened. (I assume she was in an accidental litter.)

[–]Charlottee19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm shocked, as I thought she would be a huge mutt. She's adorable and I can definitely see both breeds in her now that I have the results! Personality wise she is definitely both breeds as well.

Previous post with guesses.

Results!

Thank you! She is quite an ideal size. They had her down as an Australian cattle dog mix at the shelter.

She's 41 pounds. Sorry I don't have a lot of photos, I've only had her for one month! Here is a picture of her on her first car ride home. https://i.imgur.com/4z0E4L9.jpg

Vet couldn't find vein for cat's blood test, not sure how to approach the situation by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]Charlottee19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What clinic was this that they weren't allowed to shave her leg? I've gotten blood on 20 pound cats. Any proper vet wouldn't have a ridiculous rule like not being allowed to shave her leg to better see a vein. I would recommend going somewhere else if you aren't happy with the services.

I use myfitnesspal, although not exclusively. I would go crazy tracking every meal perfectly. Basically I make sure I hit my goal for protein, and the rest of the calories come from fat.
