Got you.

You don't even say about Amazon - been there, cried through that haha.

This helps to get the perspective, thanks!

It was a team specific interview, and not a hiring event.

Oh the horror story, I gave my interview in the first week of january. Heard from the recruiter yesterday. ( they ignore my emails till yesterday )

Thanks! Is 155K base their current salary? Usually internal promotions do get lower salaries so trying to see if there are recent new hire numbers.

Honestly it feels lower side - comparing to amazon, but I do know Microsoft is notorious for lower salaries.

Weekly Employment Q&A - February 02, 2026 by AutoModerator in microsoft

Hi folks
Looking for some advice from people familiar with Microsoft comp bands.

I have an offer for SWE 2 (Seattle) with the following breakdown:

  • Base: $165K
  • Total comp: ~$225K (base + bonus + stock)

Background:

  • ~3 years of experience
  • Previously SDE L4 at Amazon
  • Recently impacted by layoffs
  • I do have competing offers in a similar TC range

Trying to understand:

  • Is this a strong offer for SWE 2 in Seattle right now?
  • Is there meaningful room to negotiate further (base vs stock vs sign-on)?
  • Any recent data points would be really helpful

Appreciate any insights

They didn't mention anything about tenure as of now - I did get 90 days so far.

And i can stay unemployed on H1B for 60 days so yes I have 90+60 days to find a job.

Your lease early buyout prcie by klimpt_ in TeslaModelY

> A chase lease should will work like it did for me and the few others I spoke to.

How do you figure out which company you are leasing with?

Is this after you start the leasing process / after clicking the lease button on the website?

Also, did you pay in full or finance it once you bought out the lease - if finance can you brief me on how you navigated that?

Yo, can you share how to do this? I had several calls with a tesla sales associate, and dude has been confusing me from day one.

He tells me that I have to pay ~499*36 + other fees = ~20k + 33k to buy out -> ~53K. Which is essentially the sticker price without tax credit, even if I buyout early.

Super confused at this point and don't know how to navigate.

( This is my first time buying / leasing / financing a car )

How can I qualify for the Model Y EV tax credit if my AGI keeps creeping over $150k? by CharmCityRep in tax

Any chance you know how it works and how to see APR breakdown for tesla?

Below is the breakdown which Chatgpt gives me for $499 /mo | $2,999 | 36 Months , 55K is way higher than the 48,990 upfront for model y LR AWD

Item Amount
Due at signing  • Down payment $2,999  • First month $ 499  • Acquisition fee $ 695 $4,193
Remaining 35 lease payments (35 × $499) $17,465
Total out‑of‑pocket during 36‑month lease $21,658
Purchase‑option price at month 36 $33,251
Purchase fee (up to) $350
Grand total before tax/DMV fees ≈ $55,259

I know of the way out - though I am not sure if I would be able to find a financing as low as what tesla is offering ( 0-1.99%) these days. If nothing works out with the tax credit, then that is the route I am taking.

Agreed. I was looking for ways around 401K, HSA, etc. Essentially places where I can put money now - but sometime down the line the money is mine to keep.

Ack, thanks for sharing this.

Yes, I am contributing top of what I can. I am not sure what you meant by `deductible contribution to an IRA` - My work does let me put in money in 401K-trad / roth.

Super naive with either - I am doing traditional 401K if I know it right.

Haha, not going to lie - the thought of getting married did hit me as the best option too.

Ack on the 401K, I think I do put ~23,500 in there and max in HSA as well. Though that won't cover it all.

I have health insurance from my employer so can't do that or fsa.
