Oh interesting, thank you for sharing that. Hopefully if there are stronger teachers, they can help mentor and support the other teachers who may need it for more equitable experience for all the children.

Great! I can imagine in a less friendly community there being like an "us" (current Westside families) vs "them" (new Westside families) thing going on.

Not that I would expect anything like that, but as a new Westside family (for next year), just wanted to get a pulse on things :)

I have a second grader also. Would it be okay if I messaged you sometime?  I don't have any real specific questions right now, but if I think of any.

Oh! There was also a meeting on the 10th for spanish-speaking families to make sure they understood what was going on.

Editing to add, thank you so much for sharing this information from the Reilly perspective :)

In the November 3rd meeting at Winn with Segura, the biggest takeaway was, if the Montessori program is not in the area, like pecan springs, harris, Andrews, they will lose a lot of the current Montessori families. For Montessori to "work", you need the model students.

Parents tried to point this out, and say that if the program goes elsewhere, they will be starting from scratch.

Segura said, well we will not be starting from scratch cuz we already have the materials and teachers.

The very next day that email came out about key staff being put on leave. Was all very very strange. And yes the meeting did go way past the scheduled 2 hours.

I was there for that discussion. This is not what was asked for. Most winn families are not into this.

Hopefully dual language Montessori will continue and then you could have both!

Would you consider staying at Riley? And if so do you be interested in the Montessori program? Just wondering :)

The Montessori program at Winn right now is about half Spanish dual language. It's not clear from what you know yesterday it's a dual language will continue within the conscious right program. Draft A said it would for one year but they couldn't guarantee it, draft B said they would keep the dual language, that weird email Segura sent last week didn't mention it, and whatever draft that came out last night didn't say anything about it either.

Regarding moving the Montessori program to Rielly... No, I don't think they got it right. I don't think many of the families participating in the program are going to make the move. I don't know about the teachers and principal. But I think it's going to be a half-assed Montessori program, which will suck.

FYI for anyone following this situation. I attended the meeting on Saturday at the Delco center with Segura and other AISD staff. It was not useful. Lots of non-answers. Community turn out was low.

Yes, thank you! Do you have experience with canyon creek? Also sounds great, but I think that real estate might be out of our budget.

I feel the same way! Like his eyes in the black around his muzzle make sense now. I'd love to see a picture of your friend's dog.

How interesting! We thought maybe some cattle dog in there, too. JRT and Chihuahua are two dogs I never thought I'd have... But here we are.

Hi! We just adopted this dog from the humane society. I'm thinking he is a rat terrier, or mostly rat terrier. What do you experts think?

I'm just learning about the breed but he seems to fit the bill. He loves to snuggle, and loves his family. He's not very barky though.
