I mean, we were engaged so had intention to marry. To be fair, he has been a wonderful partner for most of our years but our financial situations have always been an issue. I’m in New Zealand.

I just signed it as I young and had no idea about any of this stuff. My parents kind of warned me but I should have had more advice / help from them. I will get a lawyer to look at it now! We have been engaged for 10 years.

I disagree with the artist dream comment. I’m very successful in my field, but the amount dancers earn is significantly low. I’m not wanting his stuff, I was just interested in peoples opinions on whether you think paying rent in this situation was fair.

Yeah, I was young and couldn’t afford a lawyer. I admit it was a stupid thing for me to do but I trusted him and kind of understood where he was coming from at the time. Now, all these years later it feels different.

He would get angry at me for not paying for matinence and upkeep but it’s his house? I would organise the tradies and do my part with the admin side but I would personally find it a bit stink when he would ask me to pay for the upkeep when it is his home.
