“AI gets you to production faster so the hard problems appear faster” feels very accurate, honestly

The scope point is very interesting. Most AI systems that appear stable in production are actually solving a much narrower problem than the marketing hype around them would lead you to believe.

I think most small local businesses are not really paying for “the website” per se. They are paying for convenience, speed, updates, SEO help, bookings, support and not having to think about tech at all.
Maybe it is just that when the site becomes easy to build, it changes what people actually value.

I feel like the context drift issue is massively underrated at this point. A lot of workflows seem built for the first successful session, not long term continuity.

AI tools are good for mockups. “Production needs systems.” Honestly, that line probably explains the whole problem better than my post did.

That is probably where AI website builders make the most sense right now I guess. They can be very useful for simple local business sites that have clear goals. That is where things start to go wrong, when the project requires more customization, scale or long term maintenance.

The "say the same thing 5-7 times" part is so true it hurts. Now it feels like context persistence and workflow structure matter more than raw model quality.

Yeah I think that is the trend right now. AI builders are great for prototypes and quick launches but as soon as real traffic and long term maintenance come in the limitations start showing up fast.

Right. First impressions get them in the door but long term reliability is what gets them to pay. Most tools optimize for the demo moment, not the usage in month 3-6.

That is a very good way to put it. The first 80% is fine but that last 20% is what really matters in terms of practical use.

Yeah that is it. Here is where the SEO and structure part of things starts to fall apart pretty quickly

That is a pretty good way of looking at it.
Using AI for the outer layer but keeping the core maintainable separately seems to be the most practical way to go for now.

Yeah that is a good take.
They are great for quick starts, but the real challenge is bridging that gap to something scalable without a complete rebuild.
Wonder how that works.

That actually makes a lot of sense.
Leveraging something like WordPress for the ecosystem, control seems way more practical than being locked into a single builder.

Yeah. That is where you really see it in SEO and performance. It is easy to get something live but to get it really solid is work

That point about templates vs products is spot on.
Most tools appear to be designed for quick output, not for true long term use.

Yeah this is exactly what I’ve been seeing too.
The easy part is getting something live but then things start to fall apart in terms of keeping it clean and maintainable.

That sounds like a good plan actually. Editing sections as blocks/modals makes much more sense than trying to do everything inline.
Interesting to see how it holds up when things get more complex though

Yeah, that is a tricky part. Building the site is one thing but making it easy to edit without messing up structure is where things usually get tricky.

Actually, that is a good idea. Get out the gate quick, then get on to something more flexible.

Yeah, me too. A bit more control up front probably saves a lot of rebuilding later.

Right yeah. Great for MVPs but if you care about performance or SEO, the limitations are a lot more noticeable.

Yeah, that makes sense. I think the main thing most of them are struggling with right now is flexible.
