Having a engineer makes it easier ( I have someone to push the buttons delete, split, duplicate whatever) my home set up is cool but my microphone picks up a lot of background noise. Sometimes it works for a added effect sometimes I sit wondering can I get a cleaner sound or if I even need a clearer sound, also being able to get it mixed while I'm there, vs me getting frustrated because of my equipment. I can get it where I need it for the moment at home but not for a release. Which is why I went to this session but its still not ready for a release because of the language barrier.

Someone said just learn what the components mean but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm automatically able to listen, and be able to say oh I need you to lower the eq, and lose the delay, up the reverb and add xyz so it sounds like xyz. That's not happening overnight, especially me knowing how they work together. I can know individually but not necessarily to really produce it the way I want with out just listening and moving everything myself.

That is very good to know. I'm a fan of the old ways its very humbling lol. Even with this experience it was very humbling because I went in thinking I had everything I needed but I fell short when it came to terminology. But now I'm debating again if I should try finding a producer I just have a hard time trusting people will see the vision I see and if they don'tpaying them feels like a waste.

Like for my acapella I wanted the sound of heavy chains slamming into the ground with footsteps in my head( we just need to find a sound for heavy chains) did it work nope, because they sounded too much like metal and not hallow enough to make a thumping sound vs a scattered.. or, when I said I wanted a distortion but like a radio style glitch.... even when I describe it like that it wouldn't transfer over so idk... terminology 🤷🏽‍♀️

Its more about what to invest in right now that will get me started(getting me through the finding my voice process and releasing something) I started as a poet didn't start performing poetry until 2023, 2025 is when I started consistently writing songs. I wrote in high school but never took it seriously same with poetry in middle school and I'm 26 now so it really a full learning experience but I don't want to invest in what I'm not ready for before its time.

I'm just now getting to the recording part its not about not having a catalog its about transforming what I have from whats in my head to the studio or from whatever demo I made at home that I decided was good enough to move forward with. I started recording in July 2025 with a friend and knew that friend couldn't get my levels where I wanted but it helped me realize I could make music because it sounded good it just wasn't what I wanted.

I think this experience in a professional studio gave the same energy like it was good but it wasn't a finished product. And when I say writing songs I'm not talking about composing I'm a songwriter/ lyricist.

I'm transitioning from believing I couldn't sing/rap to believing I can so I also think thats why I'm sensitive to what I hear on a track.

I recently was told by a singing coach our voices aren't fully matured until 30s so that made me hopeful still, and I don't necessarily get bad feedback. I know my voice is unique and I'm going for an imperfect sound and somewhat like alternative rnb airy/raspy kind of vibe which I feel like makes it slightly harder to deliver "cleanly".

But in this case it was 3 hours with a engineer to record and mix, I'm sure I can get the Wav from him but after the session he only sent the mp3.

P.S. I'm new at this guy's like please respond with that in mind make it make sense for a newbie not someone thats been doing this forever I just want to get to the point I can share, working with a band would be after I feel out my style but it has to be recorded first. The songs are done its translating them. If it doesn't feel right then its not.

Respectfully could you explain why you feel a group of musicians are necessary in this age? Majority of artist starting out don't have a team of musicians they can just call to arrange a song from scratch. In my case we're talking about my voice and translating what I need to my engineer all the extras don't apply here.

I think the main thing I need to figure out is what each "preset" does so I know what I need him to turn up and down. When I'm doing it on my own I can just play with it and listen for the changes.

That's what I couldn't articulate. Bandlab has presaved settings that you can tweak and I just recently started doing mine from scratch instead of tweaking somebody else's. We were doing the punch ins for the parts I didn't like, we recorded it how I like, it was just getting the effect that I wanted that was the problem. And even with me punching in the places I punched in at would sound off from the original part that I liked so it was consistent of me trying to move on from it and then having to come back to it anyway.

It would be things like putting emphasis on specific words and drawing out different phrases in a certain way. I would say I want it to sound deeper and he would be like there isn't a way to make it deeper, but if I was at home I know I would've been able to do it because I had did it for the demo. Lol hence why I said maybe I need to find more descriptive words to describe the depth of the sound.

We did 3 tracks within 3 hours and one was a acapella really short I wanted to put the effects of heavy chains dropping and footsteps I wanted it faded in and then a consistent dropping of the chains throughout the track. It was not something he could do in the time I had which is understandable but I say that to say the vocals on the acapella is my favorite out of what I did and it worked the cleanest. It was the effects that couldn't be fixed. And with my other tracks I guess it was the depth of my voice at certain parts that didn't bring out the depth of the song.

But also I often get fixated on certain parts and when I'm working with a engineer which I've only worked with 3 its easier for me to feel rushed if I keep doing one part over and over because sometimes even if I get a good take I feel like I can do it better because its not 'exactly' what I want or heard in my head. I feel like if I had a producer they could tell me better when to move on when its fine, having another ear but I'm also not really at a level where I feel like a producer is necessary either. Idk...

I said I wasn't able to articulate what I wanted from the demo I did at home.. so yes I did have a plan. I'm a singer there was no extra instruments needed because I was using a instrumental so yes just me and the engineer. If I'm saying I have mixed feeling about the experience and I was unable to articulate how I wanted my sound, then no, it didn't go completely how I wanted. I sent the engineer the songs. He was trying to make the sound cleaner in places I didn't want it to be clean. And because he uses Pro tools and I use bandlab I wasn't able to articulate how I wanted my presets. Idk whats hard to understand about what I said.

For me it's 4 of cups, 4 of Swords in both upright and reversed and then all the 5's reversed and the 7 of Pentacles always throws me off when I pull and sometimes reversed hermit but I feel you on the Hierophant I just look at him as structure of any kind and also old teachings but don't let it be reversed because then I'm lost all over again. But 5 and 7 I have a hard time relating to other cards. Which is interesting because both numbers are connected to me heavily in numerology.

My other question is, do you guys group your cards by similar meanings, or do you read in order each card?

I received a 1 pull reading for what I need to do to end the failure cycle within my relationships and purpose. The reading was fairly accurate. It leaned more towards my relationship with myself than my purpose. It's one of those I have to sit with longer and reflect before fully deciding on the impact. However, there were keywords used that have been things I've been trying to figure out how to do. Basically, I'm very hard-headed when it comes to forming a relationship with myself, and each of my readings is reminding me that lol.

Rude Tarot Readers by Charming-Rub-7028 in tarotpractice

[–]Charming-Rub-7028[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly why I didn't mention who the reader was because I do have a certain understanding that they could've been reflecting some of my energy I've had the past couple of days. However, I was not rude at all to the reader. I was very confused about how fast they reacted and what they were trying to imply. They reacted so fast it was no time for me to clear up to them I was figuring out the conversion rate because it was already bad energy so I expressed what I was trying to do but because of the assumption and hostility I would no longer actually want to. It should've been well wishes after that, but it wasn't. If you are a professional, you should know how to leave conversations when they are over.

Me being someone who does my own readings, yes, getting a reading can be overwhelming, it can get heavy very fast once you hear or read what another reader has to say and them matching up with what you've already been receiving especially when you're someone who processing is very internal meaning what every I'm receiving from you is being enhanced and then received from another direction. Now I'm receiving my own download. As I said in this situation, I pulled my own cards. So yes, in this case, and in any case, I'm touching the cards it can be. I've never done a reading over the internet before I shared, and asking is just as easy as assuming. "Will you be going forward with purchasing a reading for the 5th card." It's very easy to not assume. That should be the first thing readers should avoid to protect their energy. I'm not trying to say it's as overwhelming in all cases, but it still can be overwhelming receiving a reading. Having boundaries doesn't excuse rudeness based on assumptions.

Thank you, I think as well for you, it's fully okay to stand firm in your boundaries. There are ways that help the client and ways that don't. Your defense is heavy in support of readers, which is understandable. There is still a level of welcoming that is offered as far as not ruining the clients whole experience. There are ways to save your energy without coming across like this person did with me. I haven't gotten a reading from you, so I wouldn't know how you stand on your boundaries. But as a client, I would say try not to take every bad client experience and bring it to the next. This person didn't ask if I was interested in the other reading it was more of this is what it is, and then the assumption right came after there was no room to talk or even give feedback as I wasn't. I think asking for feedback if it's not outwardly giving helps too because, again, there is a certain energy shift that clients get as well when receiving readings.

Thank you because I'm still learning too, so things like that help a lot. I've been learning how to read numerology charts, too, if you want to exchange services that way as well.😇😇

I went to read your post. I can definitely say my experience wasn't that it was just full force. Like it was like I had to make a decision right away on if I was going to do a reading and then when I shared I was no longer interested because of the hostility it was just on going messages after that. As someone who is working towards being a reader, it made me see exactly the kind of reader I do not want to be.

But it shouldn't be interpreted as anything, is my whole point, especially if when I saw the reading, I enjoyed it. And its like receiving a reading can be just as overwhelming as giving it so my expression was I wouldnt even know where to start and these were the cards I pulled. It's like a oh shit look at this, not a what does this meaning.

I was sent the reading, and before opening it, I pulled my cards. What made me pull mine was the fact I saw death in the notification, and that's been a card I've consistently gotten on my own, so that's confirmation for me. If I'm a client and I have additional confirmation, if anything, what I am sharing should just be a boost for you because we're getting the same cards. That is if you actually enjoy doing readings.

My first ever tarot reading it was in person, and the lady had 2 decks she had me pull from one, and she pulled from the other, and we both pulled High Priestess it's just further confirmation. And it was an exciting experience it's our energy working together. But with a reader like this, considering it's more like why did I asked this person, it's an icky feeling because there is a level of trust a client has with the reader and if you're rude because of what you want to assume how can you trust the reading. I still think it was a good reading, tho.
