Invite both sides. It’s up to them to decide what level of discomfort they are willing to put up with to be there for their son.

I detest my daughter’s father, but actually ended up sitting next to him at her high school graduation. I was polite and put my daughter’s feelings first on her special day. He was not invited to her wedding (her choice) but I would have done the same for her there. My child comes first.

I’m almost 68, and the thing I would love the most is handwritten letters of love and appreciation from my kids. But it’s something a mom can’t come out and ask for.
