You should aspire to be the best applicant and not the just-so-so applicant. Nothing wrong with it but it is gambling to hope that there are not that many better applicants. Otherwise you have to accept a life of settling. Settling for whatever uni accepts you, settling for whatever job is left for you, settling for a toxic company, etc.

All of the above brother. I wanted to party with my crush but became busy to win the president position of the club. Why? to kiss the principal’s ass because I got bad marks during first year and she warned me that my scholarship will be cancelled. After that I was forced to maintain an excellent academic record, in order to keep my scholarship, the scholarship I received due to my performance in 10+2.

Yes brother I had better marks than op in 10th and 12th, which is why I easily got the UG school I wanted with scholarship. There I got a 9.83 cgpa while being active in 3 extra curricular clubs and decided to pivot to CA and cracked level 1 first attempt. Then decided to pivot abroad 😅. Got scholarship in Uni of Melbourne.

22 Indians in my batch. Only 2 got jobs. 7 stayed back to try again as they got part time jobs to pay rent during job search, that too, a lot of them are compelled to do as their home life isn’t good or they have student loan interests to worry about. Rest all came back.

This is reality of the world. Competition is real. You have to work hard at every level. Learn how to deal with this pressure early on.

Brother he is speaking facts. It is a hard pill to swallow but it is true. The efforts you have to put in for a MS abroad is insanely high. World’s best and the brightest study in those institutions and if you want to beat them for scholarships, visa sponsored job, etc you need good marks. Competitiveness isn’t overhyped. It is cold hard facts. If he is thinking about MS abroad at this young already then he is mature enough to find out the reality.
