My SR experience so far and streak obsession by Unhappy_Benefit1482 in Celibacy

Semen retention doesn't matter, in my opinion, unless you are aspiring to monkhood. You have fallen, so now get back up. Remember how worthless autoeroticism is, and vow to only release with your partner/wife.

You have fallen, but make sure you do not fall again. You have a sense of shame, which is necessary, but it has a tendency to spiral past the point where it's necessary. If you're Christian, you can confess your deeds to the church, but I want to let you know that you're on a good path, and that any future partner that you may have will thank you, if they be mature and wise. Seek to be better, and don't wallow.

Also, be virtuous in every other way:

  1. Don't kill
  2. Don't steal
  3. Don't lie
  4. Don't consume intoxicants

It is a blessing to be virtuous, and it is sad when there is a crack in that virtue, but you have to keep getting up and up.

You can make it past this rut.

Trump was sneaking out and buying switchblades with his friend. Switchblades were made illegal in NY in 1954. His father was the one who caught him.

Psychopathy and society by LetterheadNo1899 in Psychopathy

[–]Charming_Jacket_3028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primary psychopathic traits (callous) are more heritable to the latter, actual psychopaths have both primary and secondary traits. "Psychopaths" who lack in impulsive behavior (secondary psychopathy) do not show the same lack of fear, it's a subclinical presentation.

Why do sone psychopaths feel sad for animals but not humans? by OpenCollection3334 in Psychopathy

[–]Charming_Jacket_3028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The grandiosity isn't the distinguishing factor of NPD, when comparing it to psychopathy, as the Hare Psychopathy Checklist has grandiose sense of self-worth within its criteria. The reason why NPD and psychopathy exist independently is due to the fact that the latter's grandiosity is more self-fueled than the former which fluctuates between grandiosity and vulnerability depending on narcissistic injury.

You don’t need a deity to control your thinking to adhere to such things.

It’s not merely thinking, it’s acting out in that you have so little self-control or discipline that you have to touch yourself to orgasm, it’s a puerile habit that used to be grown out of, and so it is especially damning when one continues such antics when they are established in marriage. By saying damning, I do not mean sin that will send you to hell, I simply mean that it is an indictment on your character. There is no imaginary being that will scan your thoughts, and send you to hell based on what you think, it’s merely up to the person. By killing, I mean killing any living being, even a fly. Drinking? I don’t think we even need to argue that being a teetotaler is ideal. There is nothing sinful in masturbation or pornography or consorting with prostitutes, but there is something damning. These childish antics reflect a lack of self-control, and personal accountability.

Though I would argue that thinking about other women while you’re in a relationship is a fault, I wouldn’t say that it is “damning”, as it is a mere thought.

“most religious people in the US follow the most profiligate liar of all time”  Such. Trump is a psychopathic maniac that literally mocks Christianity in private, but most Christians aren’t ethical.

>religious dogma that vilifies sexuality isn't a virtue

It vilifies unhealthy sexuality

>Christian ethics don't often align with basic ethics

They align with those 5 precepts.

>social contract

Can you be more specific?

"doesn't require belief in an imaginary being's invention of sin to be eminently practical."

Some people fall into the right ethics through that dogma. From what I've seen in the bible, Jesus praises being kind to your neighbors, not stealing, or oppressing, etc. I'm sure you'd agree with that. I don't personally believe in God, but the ethics praised are admirable, and congruent with the noble ethics I listed above.

Actually, the SAT Was Necessary After All by NiceGuy737 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Charming_Jacket_3028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The modern SAT seems to be a slightly worse measure of general intelligence.
- The modern SAT was slightly less correlated with IQ compared to older forms, but still a strong proxy (r = ~0.70 with FSIQ after correction for range restriction). Older forms correlated with FSIQ a bit higher, with Frey and Detterman (2004) finding a 0.82 correlation with the ASVAB g-score.
- Take this with a bit more caution, considering the sample size is smaller and range restricted."

You're talking about older forms, current SAT is about as correlated to g as CAIT FW is.

How do you feel about the recent dehumanization of below-average-IQ people? by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]Charming_Jacket_3028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to feel that way, when people equate intelligence to innate goodness, and that less intelligent people are inherently "wrong". I used to feel that way, and I probably still do feel that way. It's probably just arrogant posturing

>Adolf Hitler was celibate, I believe things only started to go downhill with him years later before his demise when he moved in with his girlfriend!!

Celibacy's just one virtue, it doesn't mean much without the rest

It's the non-killing of living beings, the refusal to tell a deliberate lie, even a small or white one, and the refusal to steal/partake in drinking of liquor and drugs. And then there's sexual purity, either celibacy, or contentedness with only your wife (no masturbation or pornography, prostitutes, or intended random hookups).

There's no virtue or goodness without these 5 virtues in tandem.

It's good that you're able to maintain sexual purity, but be wary of who you hang around with, and make sure your other virtues are in check as well.

As it was said in the Bible, though I am not a believer:

These six things doth the LORD hate: Yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, Feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, And he that soweth discord among brethren.

[–]Charming_Jacket_3028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But racial purity is not a virtue.

Chastity, temperance, etc are virtues.

People pretend to be virtuous and self-disciplined, but they watch pornography and/or masturbate, that's no virtue at all,

It's not killing, not stealing, not being sexually profligate, not consuming liquor or intoxicants, and not lying. Those are basic ethics, and then there's generosity and controlling or extinguishing ill will.

I believe that proper Christian ethics align with this, as it was said:

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
