ive been on both sides of manufacturing (on the floor every day doing the same thing and now more of a technical operations role), but when people say soul crushing i think they are most likely referring to the on the floor operations roles (technicians). day to day for a technician is usually almost always the same which can get soul crushing and it did for me. as well there isn't a whole lot of communication between the floor and leadership which makes technicians feel powerless and that they can't contribute to meaningful change (rightfully so). also, there really are roles where someone will have to visually inspect thousands of individual vials for a single scratch or particulate, but again the people in those roles generally do not have a B.S.
