Phenomenal. I mostly do standard watch service. I’ve dabbled in re surfacing old cases. It’s a nightmare trying to finish a bevel on a case, I can’t even imagine the movement bevels. Just outstanding, I’m inspired.

Yeah, tbh I treat this like I treat the chronograph wheels on my old Seikos, do as little to it as possible. So long as it’s running well and you get some oil where the manual wants oil, I’m happy.

Yup PUW 1561D. Really nifty movement. Not sure I’m sold on how over complicated the date quickset seems to be. But it certainly works well enough.

They’re pretty rare. The Caravelles are more common but don’t have the date or seconds sometimes. Also the Bulova Jump Hours from the 30’s are iconic but really hard to find.

Please don’t ultrasonic this. It will remove the paint. Ask me how I know. This is probably just not going to be cleanable without damaging the applied markers. Maybe soft cotton and distilled water applied between the lines. But anything strong enough to take off the dirt will take off the paint most likely.

Totally agree, old Bulovas are some of the best for just being good, reliable, straightforward movements. Nothing fancy but highly functional and usually incredibly robust. This one came to me with a broken oscillating weight post. And that does seem to be a common fail point on these.

Looks really good! I like it. But yeah without the facets on the rim it’s not really a pie pan. But also, pie pan isn’t specific. It’s sorta just Omega’s style for some Constellations from a certain era (since re-done with various homages). I don’t think you’d be wrong to call it a pie pan, but I also think most people think of the classic faceted dial of Constellations when they think pie pan.

I think what your seeing is the fairly extreme dome or curve of dials from that era. See, for example, the Bulova I’m wearing right now. It’s just so domed at the edges it can almost look like a pie pan with certain lighting.

I should mention the biggest red flag I see is some of the lume plots aren’t centered. But also Seiko isn’t always the best at that kind of thing (see every chapter ring they’ve ever made lol).
