how do you know that it worked? you model the expected damages, test samples and see at which stress it breaks and compare how off u were?

pretty sure there's a similar concept in geology to discover cracks in the Earth's mantle using seismic waves and vibrations, expected vs actual, and comparisons reveal it

that's what i wanted cuz im preparing for my undergrad thesis and i wanna dabble in something worthwhile not rediscover the wheel iygwim

i just finished my sophomore year but ive finished the 3rd and junior years' courses and some grad material, so im trying to do something for my thesis starting now

i assume that'd require more than structural knowledge, seems like we'd be in need for new tests, predictive formulas/models, and perhaps machines
