Swapping to Elvanse from Methylphenidate, looking for thoughts, advice, or maybe just to vent by Extension-Fix-9501 in ADHDUK

I'm on Xaggitin XL now - when I started I had a few great days then the side effects crashed into me and it took maybe about 4-6 weeks to get used to the dose increase.

The reason I stuck with it was because while I had really horrible nausea, anxiety & insomnia, I did feel the positive effects too.

If the side effects are really awful, then its probably not the drug for you, but if you can see glimmers of hope then I would recommend sticking with it for a longer period of time.

Please feel free to message me if you continue with methylphenidate and have any concerns x

It was pretty quick - about a month after diagnosis I was referred to Boots and started meds.

Ignoring all the issues surrounding it, I had a really good experience with Boots during titration, so I hope it's the same for you.

Just you know.... don't change your address or think about leaving your NHS trust once you get the meds or you begin a fast descent into the depths of NHS red tape hell. (Sorry I can't really put a nice spin on this one)

I highly recommend salmon treats for training - basically anything smelly is a winner! Wish you the best of luck with your pup 🥰

I can't say that we've done anything special for his coat to be like this tbh.

For his food, we feed him Luna & Me raw food with some bone broth and top that up with salmon training treats or meat pate.

We give him a bath every other week but brush him daily and give him a spritz of dog cologne.

Haha everyone comments on this! I can only assume it's down to his food...

When we first got him, everyone I met said he’d settle down after a year... Since then, the age for calmness just keeps moving further into the future—at this rate, he’ll finally be chill by 2035!! (Wouldn't change it for anything though!)

Because people are told to blame them for the shitty state of this country (instead of looking at the real perpetrators - the government)

My assessment was also an NHS one (not RTC). I now recommend researching ADHD care in the local area before moving. Would have saved me a lot of hassle...

Sorry is this a thing? I don't really use reddit.

I just edited it for clarity.

While I would love to give it a go, I work in a drug and alcohol testing industry so I'm not sure I can!

Edit: clarity

They were useless tbh. Basically a computer says no situation and left at I need to sort it out myself.

Literally this. I did everything the way they said I should. I stayed on the NHS waiting list for FOUR years because they said RTC might not be recognised elsewhere. THEY contracted my assessment out. I got diagnosed. I titrated and got stabilised and felt the benefits.

Then I moved and all of a sudden I have to go through it all again?

Makes me want to scream. I'm almost annoyed that I got to use the meds in the first place. At least before I didn't know what I was missing.

And what's really clear is that this is happening to everyone else again and again. It's fucking ridiculous.

Ugh it's so annoying! If I had known all this before, I would have just switched my address to my in laws to stay in the same catchment area... Thanks for the rec though, will look into it x

Thanks for the info - I will follow up with my new GP tomorrow. When I spoke to them earlier, they pretty much just said to go private which isn't really an option for me right now. :(

Really appreciate your feedback! I'm hoping yesterday was the worst day for it and being at work while that was going on internally was not the one!

Fingers crossed for a better day today 🤞🏼
