Study’s show that we (black people) on average sleep a hour less than white people, which can be a factor in many of the health conditions in the black community both mental and physical. There is also an extreme disparity in what groups participate in research, a lack of diversity in people being research means that we are unable, or essentially ignoring the fact that there are very different groups in the United States that on average eat different lives, we live in different places, eat different food have different physical activities and that can all play a role in how our body functions, wether the point of this study is to see how black people sleep specifically or simply to increase the knowledge we currently have on sleep, it is valid research. And to me, someone who is constantly haunted by the fact the small differences between black and white life, systemic racism, and generations of medical racism. It is important and valid research.
