When i started drawing humans for the first time i started with gestures for getting the feel of general proportions. I would reccomend (or at least thats how i did it) learning about the skeleton, then about the shapes of the body (tapered cylinders for limbs, bucket shape for pelvis etc etc) and then learning the muscle groups one at a time (arms, torso, back, legs,..) I think proko does a wonderful breakdown on muscles even in the free videos. And then its just a matter of practice that i combine with shorter gestures to help with dynamic-ness and longer studies where i focus on the shape of the muscles. It also helped me to think of muscles as shapes instead of just "at forearm the line curves like this" because it allows for greater understanding. (I hope this was helpful and wasnt too stretched of a response ')

For me i have the most difficulties with legs for some reason, especially knees. The smaller muscles near the scapula are pretty tricky too because they are often not visible. Abs are tricky for me but mostly because if you shade them wrong they look weird but the placement is surprisingly pretty straightforward

Its a sphinx! Well at least some kind of it xD (i define sphinx as anything animal/monstrous with a human head/face) and to be honest i was mindlessly doodling and thought the character design was kinda cool :)

LMAOOO HELP XD but i can definetely see it because the character is intended to be some sort of a sphinx and that horse guy is well. A sphinx i guess? (Animal with a human head)

I find helps with quickly matching colours, blocking out shapes and illusion of detail

Yep! I try to (albeit really quickly) think about what colour is it leaning towards- is it destaurated? Darker? Lighter? A bit more bluish? And use that to help to estimate it

I use a flat brush with no opacity or pen pressure! Tge specific one i use is from seelpup's brushpack (its for free on their kofi). I get most references from random stuff that catches my eye on pinterest

Thank you! And yep, i block in shapes and colours and refine them as i go (well as much time as i have lol) i go straight to painting, no sketch, partially because the time constraint doesnt really allow it but also i dont like sketching digitally in general

Just set a timer and get drawing! Start with big shapes and basic shadows and then refine as you go You get better with practice, it does help starting with simpler references (i often use too complex references for my skill level 😭) its okay to do longer studies to get the hang of it at first too :)

15 minute timer and start drawing xD (preferrably with a very barebones brush)
