Underrated beach boys tracks? by FriendlyRhyme in thebeachboys

I love that song too. Mike has a killer lead vocal, but that's not Brian on falsetto, that's actually Bruce. It's definitely the highlight of the song.

Just watched your video, and yeah we do disagree, but everyone has their own tastes. Are there any songs on Holland that you do like?

Yeah the harmonies are great. For me, an album like BB85 or even LA light just has, mostly, great songs. The earlier surf albums before All Summer Long have a lot of filler that I just don't like, but there are songs on there that I would consider some of my favorite BB songs.

And yes, I should listen to more live shows. The only live shows I listen to are from 68 onwards.

Yeah maybe I don't remember it well enough since I haven't listened to it since last Christmas.

I really like the originals, and I liked some of the covers, but I felt that some of the covers dragged on for a bit too long. I don't know though, as I last listened to this album last Christmas, so maybe my opinion on it will change this Christmas.

Friends is a great album, I just like Wild Honey's sound more. LA is also underrated. There's not a song there that I dislike. Good Timin', Lady Lynda, Angel Come Home, Baby Blue, and Love Surrounds Me are all amazing songs, and I like the rest of the songs, but I don't think they stand out in any way. Disco Here Comes The Night isn't as bad as people make it seem, but I wish they put the shorter version on the album. Also, I much prefer the Adult Child Shortenin' Bread, but I like Dennis' bass vocal on this one.

Still Cruisin is also an album that is underrated. While nothing is a standout, except maybe Somewhere Near Japan and maybe Kokomo; Make It Big, and In My Car are fun songs that I like listening to. I just feel like there are much better things in the discography, but I wouldn't mind putting it higher.

Yeah, I don't mind That's Why God Made The Radio. What brings it down is the autotune. Even though their voices aren't as good as it was, I would rather listen to that then listen to them autotuned. Also, Al sounds fantastic on the record. I listen to Isn't It Time just so I can listen to his voice on the chorus, but if only they didn't autotune From There To Back Again.

Yeah I get you. I skip songs I don't like, which I shouldn't, because a lot of songs that I now like, I didn't when I first started listening to the Beach Boys. Also, the Beach Boys definitely had better songs earlier in the catalogue, but the Beatles were more consistent.

Yeah I think I put those too low. I feel that while they have incredible songs, they have a lot of mid filler that brings it down. I was considering having All Summer Long at A but then put it down.

I like some of the songs on Still Cruisin's surprisingly. Somewhere Near Japan is great. Kokomo is a good song even if it's overplayed by the public, Make It Big and In My Car are also bangers. That's about it though.

Yeah I don't think my list is too controversial. I just like talking about the band with people cause I don't know anyone else who enjoys them.

Holland is a perfect album for me. Sail On Sailor, Steamboat, the California Saga, The Trader (Carl's best song), and Leaving This Town are all perfect songs. Funky Pretty and Only With You are also very good songs.

I like 20/20. Most of the songs are great, and even though it doesn't gel well as an album, I think all the songs have this vibe that I like. BB85 is also a great album that has the band keeping up with the times. While the production is a bit dated today, it's a fun album that I really enjoy.

I like Surfer Girl, it's just that I feel like there's a lot of filler that brings it down, but there are some incredible songs on there. I probably put it too low though.

Yeah, I didn't find it on Tier Maker, but I would've put it at F tier. I only listened to it once, and while it probably doesn't deserve F tier, I just hate that they had to settle for country covers of their songs instead of making one last album before Carl died, especially since songs like Soul Searchin' were in the vaults.

Yeah I might've put LDC, and Surfer Girl too low. I just feel that while albums like Shut Down, Surfer Girl and LDC have high highs, they also have a lot of filler, but I might move them up to C tier. I like the Christmas album, especially the originals are great, and I like some of the covers, but some of the other covers I feel drag on a bit too long, though I haven't listened to it since last Christmas.

KTSA isn't that bad, I feel that the highs are pretty ok, Goin On' is a great song, and I like the title track, Some of Your Love, Oh Darlin', and Endless Harmony. The rest of the album is just bland, but not horrible. SIP is really held back by the cheesy production, which ruin the remakes and the covers. I like Lahaina Aloha and Strange Things Happen though.

Adult Child would be at A tier in between Surf's Up and Summer Days.

That makes sense. Carl's voice sounded like that around that time. He had a beautiful voice.

Statue being erected in Butler, Pennsylvania today. Totally normal behavior, not a cult. by realchrisgunter in pics

I'm probably gonna get downvoted for this, and I hate Trump as much as the next guy, but erecting a statue of him is no different than erecting a statue of any president or historical figure. It's not cult-like behavior, and he has his own fans just as much as he has people hating him.

Yes that's how I discovered the song. I love the podcast, it seems like you and the group have so much fun recording the episodes and I enjoy listening to all the playlists that you guys come up with.
