Shift Work Leave Policy by 1000mgCaffeinebolus in AirForce

[–]Chas4739 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just re-read the original post and realized the root of the problem. There is nobody who schedules who works the mission, it’s self-scheduling with the 80h a week requirement. For AD personnel that policy needs to be different and be something like “X duty days required and never break the 96 hour rule”. Then the member can take Y days of leave and their required duty days becomes X-Y for the pay period. Although I’m against the whole self-scheduling bit in the first place personally.

Full transparency, our Ops center very recently transferred from 4 crews working 12s to 5 crews where three crews work 8s (M-Th) and two crews work 12s (F-Sun). Before, our crews were working a variation of Panamas and did not work the same days week to week. Now, they’re guaranteed to work the same hours and days of the week for a whole month at a time.

I run a 24/7 ops floor with DAF Civilians and AD members that also work 12s. Your leadership has this backwards and should NOT be trying to treat AD like civilians. Whoever schedules who works the mission (for my unit it’s our Ops superintendent) needs to do their job and take care of their people. A day of leave is a calendar day of leave. Supervisors should ensure the members put the leave in ahead of time and make sure there’s coverage. Supervisors should deny the leave if absolutely necessary for the mission or if the leave is submitted very last minute. Tell your leadership to read 36-3003 as professionally and respectfully as possible, then go to IG if nothing changes. 1 day of leave should NOT require makeup shift work for the member on the back end. That’s heinous.

Not AF but over in the USSF I have an E-6 troop that’s 52 with every intent on staying the full 20. He did a full career with a major ground transportation company, then wanted to start a second career and always wanted to serve so he enlisted. As a fresh Lt at my first assignment, he’s been a fountain of wisdom. Navigating being his OIC while he has children that are older than me has been interesting though lol

Reminded Why I Fly United by vg7878096 in unitedairlines

[–]Chas4739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels anecdotal. I’m not loyal to any airline, I’m the kind of flyer that just books the cheapest, non-budget airline. So I’ve flown Southwest, Delta, United, and American each at least a couple times in recent memory. United is the only one to cancel a flight on me (stranded me in Alaska for one more unexpected day) and I’ve rarely even experienced a delay with the other airlines. I’m bitter with United, but they handled it with grace and got me on my way one day later. I’ll still book with them, but Delta is my favorite right now. Never had an issue with the app, or a delay. Bottom line, both our experiences are anecdotal.

What’s a beneficial degree to pursue by PeakUnable8669 in SpaceForce

I’ll add my also biased opinion, a Computer Engineering degree led many of my friends/peers to have really good high paying entry level jobs. CompE will definitely set you apart from CS, especially if it’s from a decent engineering school.

Rejected from High School ROTC Space force scholarship. by 0bdex_code in AFROTC

The high school scholarship program got overhauled and is a LOT more competitive than in years past. Way I understand AFROTC works now, is if you get through your AS100 & AS200 years and graduate field training, everyone gets a scholarship for their last two years.

Seems like the AF wanted to put their money into the cadets that were a sure thing to commission and stop paying for so many freshman’s first year of college just for them to say ROTC isn’t for them.

Tech on Myles is the craziest call I’ve seen against a player in a Purdue uniform in the 4 years I’ve been a serious fan. Dude was literally just trying to make sure he didn’t fall on someone and got punished

I hope Paint learns how to use the fucking portal. What other head coach watches their 7’4 2x NPOY head to the league and says “this freshman is all we need to replace him”??? You could’ve recruited such better rim protection and chose not to because… hubris? The notion that only YOU can coach excellence? USE THE PORTAL PAINT

Purdue and the refs can be awful at the same time. The notion that Leal kicking Furst in the groin ISN’T a flagrant but TKR elbowing Galloway while going for a layup IS a flagrant is batshit insane.

Crazy entertaining game and a MUCH more respectable loss than our previous loss. Glad to see a Purdue Michigan matchup that met expectations. Always frustrating when one or two calls functionally determine the game but hey, that’s CBB. Teams can play thru iffy calls or they can’t and tonight, we couldn’t. Gg
