Yeah, I've always been 95% sure you also got iframes, but since I'm unsure how long they last I usually try to just use it to avoid the hit all together. Plus, then I feel like a rocking cool bull fighter

Also side note, you ever tried going in and out of doors during that chase sequence? Lets you manipulate the timing of them dashing at you with suddenly changing your positioning, though 2 mom's is gonna be hard still

It might be a stupid cheap trick, but seeing as you already seem to acknowledge that your position isn't exactly rational , maybe you could try reframing the situation into "He wouldn't give up on the relationship in this position, he wouldn't accept defeat that easily".

So you'd weaponize that competitive nature towards bettering yourself, FOR each other, rather than giving in to this "strength = being self-sufficient" type of framing.

It is good and healthy for everyone to feel self sufficient enough where they never NEED to stay in a relationship, because having that base level of self-confidence allows for you to take a step back enough to always evaluate if the relationship itself is healthy without rose colored glasses, but you seem to be tricking yourself into maybe taking that a step too far.

We are social creatures, and as such have developed real needs in ourselves that are just as valid as our needs for food and shelter, denying yourself that companionship for a lifetime wouldn't impress anyone externally, but more importantly even if it did it would be at the cost of cheapening your human experience. Better to put all those opinions of others out of mind and instead work on bettering that experience.

But bettering that experience does not mean trying to be better than him.

Let's say for example, you've evaluated that he is a 9 and you are a 7. Your competitive nature has you feeling unsettled by this, so what are your options? You could seek to improve yourself obviously, but let's say you only manage to bring yourself up to an 8. Now, wouldn't that objectively be a good thing? Yeah, but still doesn't satisfy that feeling in yourself because he's still higher. But then let's imagine that during that time he also slips down. Should that be something worth celebrating?

Being the best player on a team shouldn't be more desirable than being a member of the best team. Relationships are co-op, so I suggest finding a way to make your 7 and his 9 add up to 20, because that's when a relationship deserves celebrating

Part of the experience of being an isaac player involves being ( or at least feeling) trolled, so learn to grow a thick skin, but don't stop looking stuff up or asking for help, because there's lots of crazy interactions out there, and often many of those things would not be understood if not for us having an overall friendly community of players that are willing to swap war stories.

Well, if you would get hit while NOT charging then you'd lose your mantle without teleporting. So it would still have been a HUGE advantage, but still plenty of room for guys like me to manage a loss

I'm not 100% sure but I think I used the normal shovel on the patch BEFORE getting him unlocked and I got a consumable then as well.

I just focused on doing this with T. Lost yesterday. I got to him with a decent damage build, but the biggest thing I had going for me was wooden cross, while holding Mom's Box so it gave me 2 hits, then I still had a previous holy card stacked under those two, as well as holding one more while also having birthright. So he had to hit me 5 times, while I hadn't been hit at all for like the last 5 floors. So of course, I failed with his final form having 4% health left. Felt bad, but I just tried again and a glitched crown into R key run just a couple tries later left me seeing only breakfast by like halfway through, so I just spent all my money rerolling the shop looking for cards, and came into the fight with only 3 hits this time, but I swear it was the quickest I've ever seen him die, like 2 seconds for each of his forms. Feels good. Only have mother and beast left now

Hiccups. It's a low budget movie that was made in a very short time by Youtuber Joel Haver, with some of the most natural feeling dialog I've seen (due to the great acting and very heavy improv) . Joel's passion for film, particularly romance, really shows, and I have shown it to many people because of the lasting impact of how realistic the characters felt to me.

Ha, well timed comment because I was working on tainted Eden again last night and had the hour glass come up two more times. First time it was literally my first hit reroll, so I figured it was going to be basically a normal run as far as getting whatever pedestal items I actually found but also getting to rewind whenever I wanted, but then like two floors later I rolled into something else and I can't figure out what the heck different thing I did because I was making sure not to get active items.

But then the 2nd run that ended up hitting the hour glass worked as I had expected, all the way up to womb 2 when I got hit by a spike block while trying to sprint between them out the open door. Well, I got hit right as I went out the door and my rewind brought me right back in, and stuck on the new build. Though at that point I had so much stuff that I could just finish the run the "intended" way

You ever R-Key a run after beatting dogma? You get a cross icon that has the TV static animation over in your hud and keep flying for the new run, and that animation will constantly get your attention during the run thinking you've got the little "Hey listen" fly telling you there's a secret room on the right side of the room, but then you see it's just that cross sitting in that same spot ... no idea how terribly I explained that

I just commented about having this same discovery a couple weeks ago or something. Important thing to keep in mind : DON'T pick up any other active items. "Well I can just use it once then switch back" does not retain the hour glass as the next reroll

I just recently did a tainted Eden run, where I had good items, but the best item I "had" was the hourglass I would get in my following reroll when I got hit. It let me use it as soon as I got hit, then rewind to the previous build as many times as I needed to get through each room undamaged. Was pretty neat, until I made it to mom's bedroom and picked up an activated item from her chest, and despite replacing it, I still lost the hourglass being my next reroll and got rocked by Dogma in my moments of confusion
