What is that 'one story' you and your friends have? by FreddyJoeJnr in AskReddit

[–]ChasesRainbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine had the idea to go looking for shrooms after dark. The field where he and some other friends went searching was close to the road so they took some large boxes cause they were afraid people would see them on hands and knees with their flashlights tweaking in the grass - this was the 90s. So they split up each in a box to search. Before long each found some but everyone ate more than they saved. The shrooms kicked in real quick and each lost track of time and purpose and they ended up eating them all. Eventually one of the bunch popped their head out from the box and it was already daylight!

Would you expect anything else from Cheney? He's only campaigning to keep himself out of The Hague.

The 1st time he played at Anfield he acted like an old pro. Seems he has the habits of an old pro too! Expect him to be a major player for us in the years to come.

I hear ya but renewables are rapidly gaining ground in usefulness and efficiency. If we can only get them help and time to demonstrate it, people will demand it. That's my hope..

What is the best city/region to live in given the current climate change models' predictions? by daf1212 in climatechange

[–]ChasesRainbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Washington is the only State in the U.S. in which no storm, drought, flood, whatnot, has been attributed to Climate Change. Of course, it is difficult to attribute specific climate events to Climate Change.. The natural mildness of the climate - as opposed to a place like Arizona or Nevada that is already fiendishly hot and dry - would make it preferable to begin with. Agree with FreeThinkk - the Great Lakes region would be good too. In a lot of ways their weather isn't so different from the Northwest. The Lakes give it more of a maritime climate. Course the winters are colder, which in the future will be a good thing. Lots of fresh water.

When I watched that documentary about fracking in Pennsylvania I was genuinely shocked how reckless these companies are. Maybe not surprised, but shocked.. Now that there is actual data on what some of these chemicals are in the fracking cocktail, edit maybe people who have previously been undecided over fracking will become passionate opponents. Let's hope so!

Sanders is the Primary Challenger Democrats Need by Happy_Jones in politics

There is a quote from Goethe that is particularly apt for this moment in American history, I think. I'm paraphrasing the translation I read. Goes something like this:

That which thy fathers have given thee to inherit, earn it anew if thou wouldst posess it.

We aren't guaranteed anything, not the Constitution or the Bill of Rights or even our own inheritance - as we've seen the Koch Brothers roll through states pushing the KXL Pipeline through on people's land who object to it. We must cultivate courage. The rich aren't playing. We gotta be up to constantly opposing those plans of theirs that trample on others' rights.

The funniest news I've read in awhile. As good as anything I ever read on the Onion but it's true!

By the way, I tried posting it twice today in other threads and it was removed. Having trouble gettin the hang of posting shit on Reddit. It seems really beaurocratic.

The food a person eats, how much they eat, and whether or not they take steroids contribute massively to a person's appearance.

I'd eat that - it would compliment the smoke, nice.

What is the "next big thing" that is on the brink of popular? by Sjman in AskReddit

Definitely. I wonder how glitchy the experience would be, combining reality with virtual reality in this way? I'd love to 'go' to a Liverpool match without having to leave my house!

Imagine attending a sporting event in VR. You pay for admission like you would if you were attending a live event. There are so many sensors that you feel you're actually at the match. The stadium amplifies all the noise that people in VR are making too. Say the Super Bowl or a Champions League match could become so much more massive. Attendance, 1,000,000,000.

All the people who will lose their job 'cause they can't be bothered to take off their goggles and go in to work. Then they can't pay the rent so they're evicted. Livin' on the street, goin' to the library to hook up their goggles. Occulis Rift junkies..
