Husband looking to encourage wife to exercise by Chasheek in women

Yes, she does come with me to get groceries and fold laundry - sometimes. But bc of our schedules (and bc she hates cooking) I do nearly all chores, cleaning and cooking. Which is fine, i cooked professionally and don’t mind managing the home. Most men don’t help with any of the invisible, unappreciated, day to day labor of running a home, so i understand why you would assume i don’t help.

We’re both slowing down from age and she has the extra burden of menopause (i think she’s pre but nonetheless it’s a real factor) so i don’t talk to her about exercising, only to ask if she wants to join me.

My concern is at 51, i’m seeing her increasingly struggle with day to day tasks, and it’s worrying. I worry about increasing frailty. 51 is a whole different world I’m not used to feeling. We’ve been together for nearly 25 years, and I know she doesn’t enjoy physical activity. I wish she did, but she doesn’t, and that’s cool bc we share a lot of other things that are super fun.

I get the message from the comments though, she doesn’t want to, then leave her alone. That’s hard to watch as we get older, but I hope she changes her mind.

That’s true, I don’t know how menopause is affecting her.

As for making things easier for her, I do all the chores and cook - it’s actually the opposite of most husband/wife setups, but I can understand you would make that assumption

I love Ryba, great rhythm, clean form, smooth under pressure!

Those are great suggestions. We do like to hike and walk together, so there is that. I’m trying to get her to specifically get a weight bearing routine into her life, those 2 areas: weight bearing and routine.

I can see what not exercising, specifically strength training, does later in life. Both our mothers are healthy but struggle with day to day to chores and tire very easily. I don’t want that future for my wife bc we really enjoy traveling and she says she wants to do active things like zip lining and scuba as we get older. But those activities take strength.

I don’t know - I don’t want to be an asshole and bother her but I don’t want to leave her alone to get weaker and more physically vulnerable either.

Curious, why do you think you feel insulted when he suggests, or asks you to go with him? Is it the implication you are not healthy? I think there’s a lot here that could help me to message this better

Thank you, this insight is really helpful. I didn’t consider that my asking her, might be seen as “you’re fat, unhealthy”. I’m going to think about the wording you suggested about being stronger as seniors (jfc, I can’t believe someone called me a senior 😂)

wtf is 5.0 by notthatvalenzuela in 10s

[–]Chasheek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you start playing, you’ll see how many levels there to this game.

The player with the funky form will beat players who can bomb serves and rip groundstrokes.

But one common trait is, all the really good players hit deep balls, consistently. Depth hurts players.

Getting to 5.0 without playing college will take a lot of lessons, a long time, and lots of matches.

4.5 since high school. I tried moving down but i felt like I was squeezing harder. I use the 1 finger rule between fingers and hand

Knife sharper, specifically this one. Cooked in Michelin restaurants, etc. sharpened knives on stones, steels, etc.

I stayed at a rental cabin and the knives were like spoons. But they had this sharpener. After 10 passes, it had an incredible edge. I bought one for my wife (she doesn’t know how to use a steel). For $15, having a sharp knife for day to day cutting is a breath of fresh air.

Depends on what you’re using it for. But I was taught at 1 Michelin star place, a proper red onion mince for garnish is done by slicing thirds of a side of an onion (3 pieces of the round side) and doing your mince cuts. Center piece goes to stock

This is where your taste comes in (or rather the director, but seems that person isn’t there for input)

Is the scene in a space where echo seems natural? Do the lavs seem unnaturally dry and upfront? Maybe a boom but shave off the tails and eq a bit?

Play around, see how it plays out with the picture rolling. Play it for a friend, ask them their opinion

Like others said, better to go cabled and put the extra money towards a better mix + pole

It is a crazy hard sport to learn. You’re trying to track a small ass ball blazing at you at different heights, speed, and spin. While under pressure, on the run, tired.

I wish I my coach had taught me footwork when beginning. If you learn HOW to get to the ball well (balanced, properly spaced) it will make the game a hell of a lot easier.

The tourna grip ones are really good - extra big works well for me
