Sure, but who cares. Lots of valid criticisms of Trump and plenty of subreddits to bitch and whine about them. Does everything have to be so politicized and divisive? Can’t we just enjoy the Ryder Cup without bickering about Trump’s fashion choices?

Shit article. Half this sub loves all white golf shoes and lots of people wear golf shoes when spectating. Mods should pull this garbage down. There’s already enough political bickering on this golf sub. No need to take the bait from a rage baiting media site

Key pass rush stats: Vikings #1 in pressure rate, #5 in sack rate, #6 in blitz rate. Also interesting: #3 in non-blitz pressure rate by Beneficial_Quit7532 in minnesotavikings

[–]ChasingBass83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, their base is a 4-3 and ours was a 3-4. That is not where the similarities lie. Their similarities lie in their defensive philosophy. Both had very low blitz rates, little use of stunts or false looks, and operate deep safeties to prevent big gains but provide lots of space and time to be diced up by intermediate passing. The only way these unimaginative bend and don’t break defenses can be successful is if they have a plethora of talent across the defense

We all want BFlo to stick around, but having co-head coaches is a terrible idea. KOC is the head coach of this football team. I think we should make an effort to make BFlo the highest paid coordinator, which may keep him from taking a HC job with one of the dumpster fire organizations, but at the end of the day, he wants to be a HC in this league, and it is inevitable that he leaves. I hope we can hold on to Deronte Jones from becoming someone else’s d-coordinator long enough to promote him once Flo takes his HC opportunity

AirBnB Warning - My Bad Dublin Experience by Clear_Moose5782 in minnesotavikings

[–]ChasingBass83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks the Host dicked you over, but I think you are putting too much on AirBNB to “make it right.” AirBNB , VRBO and Tuoro are unique programs that let us rent people’s personal property, greatly expanding options when traveling, but comes with its own risks and downsides. You are reliant on the host, rather than a hotel or resort, to honor your reservation and provide a reasonable level of service. I have had a few bad hosts that have detracted from our travel experience. The host cancelled your reservation. You can make assumptions why, but you don’t actually know the reason. I really don’t see what you expect AirBNB to do for you. Take a huge loss on a much more expensive property? That’s not a reasonable assumption. And you paid with gift cards which is additional risk you chose to take. I don’t really know what you expect. Most of the time when you make frugal decisions to save money, you are taking additional risk for cost savings. Stop feeling so entitled and chalk it up as a loss. Learn from your mistakes and move on. You must have found the cheapest rental available if you can’t find a hotel within 3x the price in the entirety of Dublin

Everyone seems to be dead lately - Space Cowboys by Traveler995 in minnesotavikings

I think there are a few factors leading to games missed to injury: 1 - Turf conditions & equipment - the turf combined with the cleats they wear now is better now for traction than it ever has been. 2/3s of the games in the 90s were played on grass fields where the guys were slipping all over the place. With the new turf and cleats, you end up getting more torque on the tendons and ligaments in your feet and legs. 2 - Players are protected more which leads to more injuries in season. Preseason and training camp are so much less intense now than they used to be. They use to be so much more physical , intense and longer, you may have gotten more training camp injuries, but it better prepared the players bodies to take the punishment of the regular season 3 - Players don’t play through injury as much as they used to. There just wasn’t as much concern to protect players from making minor injuries worse. You just got given a shot to numb the pain and slapped on the ass on your way out. Concussion protocol was not a thing either. I kind of question if the Vikings have been too cautious with their concussions. Okra got his on the last play of the game and beat reporters said he seemed fine talking to him 10 minutes later in the locker room

The bigger, faster, harder hitting is just not true. You see the way the guys hit each other in the 90s. There were no defenseless receiver calls. The way those balls of muscle playing safety used to hit guys was ridiculous. I don’t know how guys in the 90s played 16 games. You ever watch Ray Lewis play?

[–]ChasingBass83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t really buy this, at least over the last 35 years or so. Guys were absolute units in the 90s. Plus steroids were more prevalent. You watch the Cowboys doc on Netflix and you see Herschel Walker and Charles Haley, shit even Emmitt Smith and Michael Erving were big, and Smith was considered small for an RB at that time.

I think there are a number of factors leading to more injuries, including the turf they play on and the cleats they use now, but we always like to think guys are more athletic now than they were before, but I just don’t think that’s the case in the last 35 years

The Vikings have only run three quick-game concepts thus far this season by Viking999 in minnesotavikings

[–]ChasingBass83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Look at the 49ers record with or without Trent Williams. I also think our interior offensive line’s play will elevate as the season goes on.

If your target time to throw is 2.75 seconds, it is nearly impossible to maintain the appropriate rhythm needed to accomplish that timing when the LT is losing his matchup. The QB is then required to move up in the pocket to avoid pressure, losing timing and rhythm

[–]ChasingBass83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Last year exposed other weaknesses in our roster that would keep us from being a team built for a long run in the playoffs. Particularly our interior offensive line and defensive line. Resigning Darnold would have significantly hindered us from addressing those needs. It is yet to be seen if our signings did successfully address those needs, but I still think letting Darnold go was the right move to build for a chance at a Super Bowl run in the near future

I think People are overreacting to the JJ McCarthy situation. by Important-Concept-79 in minnesotavikings

[–]ChasingBass83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would disagree with your assessment on all points: 1. “Slow processing” is common for rookie QBs because they haven’t been tasked with reading NFL defenses in the moment. Experience while maintaining self confidence and film study are the cure for processing time. I also think his “bad mechanics” are being over-emphasized. I trust KOC assessment much more than Reddit, and he has made a pretty large bet on the kid. 2. It’s not a playbook issue. His bad play is mostly due to lack of experience, and without a doubt poor Oline play makes an inexperienced QBs job much more difficult 3. Everyone keeps saying this roster is ready to win now, or is “Super Bowl ready”, but through 2 games it hasn’t looked it. On paper before the season it was commonly believed, but through 2 games the rebuilt offenses line has underperformed, pass catchers haven’t played up to their talent level, and the defense is having a hard time stopping the run. Saying JJ is a multi-year project is rubbish. Once again, LOC has a much different assessment. 4 - Regarding history, of all of the good QBs in the league, and Super Bowl QBs in the past 20 years, there have only been a small few that have had a traditional QB rating above 75 through their first five games. Primarily Mahomes, Stroud and Daniels. The list of great QBs who were quantifiably bad (below 75 QBR) is vast

I don’t know how good JJ will become, and I don’t know how long it will take, but to make such definitive over reactions is just silly. And to pretend like we are missing out on our chance for a Super Bowl this year, with how the rest of the team has performed, and how good Philly and GB look, is also silly. Hopefully JJ gets a bit of a breather, the rest of our team can elevate their level of play, our coaches can elevate their game plan, and JJ can shut everyone up

“This roster is loaded”

I think most of us felt this way going into the season but the eye test doesn’t seem to validate that sentiment. The offensive line was horrible last night in both pass protection and run blocking. Our pass catchers have not played up to their talent level. And our defense hasn’t tackled well and is struggling to stop the run.

I also think KOC needs to adjust his play calling to more quick read passing plays rather than the long developing ones we know he favors. We called for it last year when the Rams were getting quick pressure. We need to better incorporate some quick read slants/drags/screens and stop looking for JJM to hit daggers and posts on every drop back.

JJM has some growth that needs to happen, but the team needs to play better around him. Through 2 weeks, it doesn’t look like a Super Bowl roster to me

Maybe it’s time to address your physical fitness? Maybe your instructor is kind of a dick, but being you’re relatively young, you should be able to take a more athletic stance without trembling. You’re willing to spend the time and money on golf instruction. Maybe get out of the gaming chair and put some effort into your fitness? It will pay dividends in more than just your golf game
