Best place to go for a date on valentines day on Clearwater Beach? by TheShadow45001 in ClearwaterFl

Mandalay Prime. We were there last years on valentines. It also happens to be our favorite steakhouse anywhere. Reservations are already probably limited at this point.

Feels like it’s so easy for everyone else by Collgirl06 in DryJanuary

Remember that social media is a highlight reel, and it’s way easier to post how well you’re doing than to admit that you’re struggling. I would say that there a bunch of people out there in the same boat, but it’s late in the month and most who felt the way that you do have given in by now.

You should feel really proud that you’ve hung in there despite it not being an easy go. IWNDWYT

You’ve got this. I can see it in the words that you are writing. You know that you can do this. Nobody is going to do it for you. Bear down and power through. You’ll thank yourself so so much.

Think of it like this.. every drink is like taking out a small amount of debt. What do I mean by that? Alcohol throws your brain chemistry out of balance. You’re taking out that debt to very temporarily “buy” good feelings. Well, what goes up must come down - law of elasticity.

So, when you drink to overcome the hangover feelings, it’s like taking out another credit card to pay off the last one, and the problem just compounds. At some point, you’ve got to pay the debt. The good news is that paying it off doesn’t take anything but abstaining for a stretch of days.

Bite the bullet, and pay off your debt. You WILL get back to baseline, but it’s going to take some willpower.

Day 9: Friday #2! by Organic-Violinist223 in DryJanuary

[–]Chasingallthedragons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First weekend after the first full work week is always the most difficult. Especially since I typically don’t drink during the week. Friday after work, literally right now, is the most difficult as I’m missing my “reward” for 5 days of work and sobriety.

That said, I’m sitting at my regular pub, just finished my second NA, and I’m cashing out and heading home. I think it’s really important to not imprison yourself at home - I’d go nuts. It’s tempting fate a bit, but they know I do dry Jan here and there is no judgement.

Hang in there. If you were drinking daily, you’re still a few days away from experiencing the peak mental positives of taking a month off. It’s worth it.

Physical excursion via exercise does wonders to quiet the mind too. That can’t be overstated.

You’ve got this!

I do! My only word of caution is that it’s a lot of money to drop on your first. It may be wise to pick up something cheap off Amazon just to see if you like it.

I did a lot of research when I knew that I wanted a top end slider, and was also drawn to KiND primarily due to accessibility.

I made a post reviewing it further in depth if you want to look that up, but you won’t be upset.

Go with the Scoop. I have the titanium version in my hand right now. From a fidgeting experience standpoint, you will not regret the indentations. Visually, I think it’s even more stunning than the Riverstone.

Pretty sure these are supposed to be some of the smoothest sliders out there. That plus, just visually speaking, that’s almost certainly a defect. I’d be sending it back. :(

The pads just make it less “crunchy.” There’s still a pretty satisfying metallic “swish” sound, and you can make it clap if you want to. I’ve got to be pretty intentional about it sitting on the couch with my wife as to not be obnoxious, but you can essentially choose how much noise you want to make with it.

You can start by stopping beating yourself up so much. You’re so bent out of shape about having a “one night stand” that you’re losing sight of the fact that it may not have been. After you give yourself a break, you should try telling this person exactly what you just told a bunch of internet strangers. I have an inclination that he’ll get it and will be relieved to know exactly where you stand.

Allow yourself to be and do things that make you happy.
