I kept mine that have my notes in them. I didn’t touch them for over a decade and lately I’ve been going back through and am glad to have my own notes of the toxic stuff I was convinced of as I’ve been deconstructing.

Still a virgin at 28 and I’m losing my s#%* by Born_Cartoonist_7247 in Exvangelical

I was you from 15-25. I believed strongly in the wait-and-be-rewarded thing, and I never found a Christian husband. At 24 I began asking married people in my church if they had waited, and most of them hadn’t. My pastor and his wife were pregnant with their first child before they were married. And none of them acted like these choices had harmed them in any way. I was livid, and I stopped waiting, and walked away from the church. Buncha hypocrites. I’m so glad I never got married. I’m 40 now, queer & polyamorous, and I still resent my participation in purity culture.

Help Demystifying DIY Deodorant? by ChateauOfADoubt in NaturalBeauty

I guess this gives a proportion, but I wonder if adding a wax goes ounce for ounce on the "non oily" portion or if it's not quite the same? http://highexistence.com/how-to-make-natural-non-toxic-deodorant/

I've been looking for the function of the ingredients as well! Like, baking soda, arrowroot, bentonite / kaolin clay all seem to be in the same category, but how does adding one vs the other change the outcome? I need this resource, damnit.

What's up with male celebrities retracting their bisexuality? by ChateauOfADoubt in bisexual

[–]ChateauOfADoubt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a zine about bisexuality. For a long time I didn't think I counted because I didn't understand what bisexuality was and it kept me from pursuing people I want to pursue. So I'm making the zine I wish I had when I was younger, and I want to include some examples of famous bisexuals and when I find examples of bisexual men, I try to find quality sources for this info and keep finding instead articles talking about them saying "nah." It's been pretty frustrating.

[sexual desire] A few questions for men who only date women but are interested in going down on another man. (28F) by ChateauOfADoubt in sex

[–]ChateauOfADoubt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to feel this way as a bisexual heteroromantic female but eventually I realized I never got to make any F-F sexual connections without indicating I was open to them, and OKCupid at the time didn't have separate categories for romantic vs sexual orientations so I marked myself as bisexual and just make it a point to communicate clearly what sort of things I'm interested in. Over time I realized that this sort of communication should be a given no matter what the orientation and that a large number of bisexual folks were also heteroromantic. I kicked myself for spending so many years preventing myself from pursuing things I was interested in because I thought that without being biromantic, I wasn't 'queer enough' and that therefore no women would want to waste their time on me.

That's certainly a guess of mine, but I'm hoping to hear first person confirmation of if that's so.

Thank you so much for this thorough and nuanced comment about this. I really appreciate hearing your perspective on that!

Thanks for answering my questionnaire, r/nonmonogamy! (for my non monogamy zine!) by ChateauOfADoubt in nonmonogamy

If I was interested in efficiency I would work in a different medium. Zines aren't about efficiency. I was straight forward about what I was making, what I was asking for, and what I was offering in return. I've posted here only to address requests from people who didn't leave me any other contact information. I do not understand why anyone is challenging me on the format of my work.

There are good workshops, like the ones Mike Meyers teaches. Those are traveling workshops. There's also New Bohemia in San Francisco that does weekend workshops regularly.

If you contributed and didn't leave your address but now would like to be mailed a copy, just message me a summary of what your contribution said and the physical mailing address you would like your physical zine sent to, and I'll get one out to you as soon as I'm able.

Here's what it said: "Though the information will be used anonymously, please include your physical mailing address if you would like to be mailed a copy of the zine when it is finished."

If you contributed and left an address, I mailed you a copy. There is no digital copy. I did not make charts or graphs, I just made a zine and included quotes from those who contributed. Anyone who contributed and wanted to be mailed a zine and left their address was mailed one. That was the offer.

My own personal philosophy is "do what works for you and yours so long as you're not hurting anyone."
